Who's a looking forward to moving snow

I am. Last year we got 3 2-3" snowfalls before IIstarted rebuilding the 104. Then it dumped 8" tthis year I am ready. Loaded my turf tires, installed an electric lift, and added a rubber plow edge. That on top of having a tractor that doesn't smoke like a chimney is going to make snow removal a breeze this year.

You are welcome to my share of snow. Snow sucks and it's cold. :biggrin2:

It gets cold here anyway so might as well get some seat time out of it

I would not be a country boy if I did not split wire wood, and run a IH Cub Cadet in the winter! There is way too much year round work down south, and way too hot in the summer. The 4 seasons are beautiful here in N.E Ohio, I have the 71 all ready!

I also have a large stack of logs up against the one side of the garage that all needs to get split. If it would ever stop raining and get cold (Freeze the wood) id get to it. Wood splits so much easier when its frozen.

ACecil 11-06-2013 10:32 AM

Me, but we probably won't get any.

Cubcrazy 11-06-2013 11:21 AM

Not looking forward to it! I can get my seat time other ways!:beer2:

OldAndInTheWay 11-06-2013 11:25 AM

He's got the cab figured out. Now only thing to figure out is blade or thrower.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uuOo8x3WXW...024x768%5D.jpg

When I was young we always had a lot of snow. Now it is very rare to need a plow or thrower around here. But if they talk about snow people raid the stores and close the schools for a month.

vartz04 11-06-2013 11:41 AM

hahah wow. what a sight that is.

I was down in louisville in Feb/March and it snowed. It was like the world ended. Up here near chicago everyone knows what its like. However, the first snow every year everyone forgets how to drive. I used to make a bunch of money when I was in HS pulling my classmates out of the ditch with my truck.

jimbob200521 11-06-2013 11:52 AM

I for one am looking forward to it! I've finally got some Cub Cadets and not only a home to plow out during snow, but I'm going to use them to clear sidewalks at work. They'll be getting a workout for sure! I think a 54" blade with some chained, liquid filled tires and a 42" thrower ought to be good enough :biggrin2: :beerchug:

JLM78 11-06-2013 11:53 AM

only thing missing is a AC unit

I agree. I've lived in SE MI for 29 years and wouldn't want it any other way. I love each season for equal reasons (and loathe them for reasons as well.) The only thing left to do on my 147 for snow removal is an oil change. Temps at 50 degrees here still I'm not yet comfortable removing the 30 wt. to put in 10w-30.

vartz04 11-06-2013 01:23 PM

thats the upside to the heated garage, I run 30 Wt. all year.

red56turbo 11-06-2013 01:44 PM

Not looking forward to it just yet. The 1772's currently under the knife getting a driveshaft rebuild. This will be my first year using the super and hydraulic front blade. Hopefully that diesel won't give me starting fits. So it can hold off at least another couple weeks.

J-Mech 11-06-2013 01:53 PM

I'm looking forward to it...... kinda. I clear a lot of snow and get paid, so I look forward to that. But the 1811 is getting a "new" cab, and it's not ready yet. And the 125 still isn't up and running. So...... it can hold off for a while yet. Blower is still in the back of the storage shed.

zippy1 11-06-2013 01:54 PM

Ah, snow, the other four letter word:bigthink:
Wishing all of you that want it, get PLENTY of it:beerchug:

I want it, and lots of it, but only Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm :biggrin2:

OldSkull 11-06-2013 06:45 PM

Like your Avatar Jimbob :biggrin2:

Not ready yet, I invest about $800 to repair my "Out of order" 1650 QL and install the QA42A snowthrower I purchase last year but something is not right, I can barely lift the thrower 2" from the ground and the aluminum bearing support (part 397-044-R1) for the chute rotation is broken, I need to weld it.

Since I'm already messing with it I may try to do the window motor mod. I need to find out what motor to use, Rear wheel weight and chain are install but I didn't fill the tire yet, I just don't remember were is the link talking about a special stuff to put in them.

I never got enough spare time to build a metal cab for it so a seat cover, a pair of ski goggle and a sheepskin Ushanka Russian hat are my extra protection agains the element....:bash2:

Nothing like being on a cub and feeling the power of rolling a tall bundle of snow off of your blade. What is really neat is when I see my neighbors walking behind their snow blowers and I'm on the back of my cub--my work is done in less than 10 minutes and they are still working!

Nice setup Kelly. I know you get plenty of practice moving the white crap where you live.:beerchug:

OldAndInTheWay 11-08-2013 07:25 AM

There was an airline running round trip flights to Orlando for $88 last winter. I jumped on it. $40 one way with tax. Heck, I couldn't drive out of VA. for $40.

An Airbus. Crowded going down and had all seats around me to myself coming back. Got to park a couple car lengths from the terminal for free also. Shenandoah Regional Airport. Was the coldest weather of the year here when I went down. Have friends who have a winter home down there and was met at airport.

Been driving down for several years but no more if I can be down there in a couple hours by air.

ACecil 11-08-2013 11:35 AM

Jenn and I are going to put the blade on the 782 this weekend.

red56turbo 11-08-2013 01:20 PM

Got the parts to get the driveshaft back into the 1772, then on goes the blade. Will hopefully get it done by early next week. Then I'll snap a few pics...............

:biggrin2:

I included a "snow action-ready" IH Cub Cadet:

Got the blade and weights on the 63 O as well as the 1000 now just gotta get the 62 O and 1200 put away for winter and throw the chains on once it starts falling. I can't wait!

Flatbedford 11-09-2013 04:20 PM

I am looking forward to some snow. Last couple years have been disappointing in my area. I have one of my 149s for sale, but If it doesn't sell soon, I'll put my QA42A on it and keep it 'til the spring. I change to winter oil and attachments after Thankgsgiving.

fpatd 11-11-2013 08:09 PM

Snow ??? Yeh right ! Living in nj I just pack it down ! Now when i lived in park county co you better have a pack mule to get a round !! Now when i need to plow my 1000 comes out !

Cubcrazy 11-11-2013 08:11 PM

Speaking of snow, we are supposed to get some tonite!
Maybe 3 inches of the white stuff by morning.

You should use synthetic. I think it helps with performance. I guess its just an opinion.

I'm really looking forward to moving snow with new Cub. I finally have a nice tractor instead of a walk behind. Although I do still use the walk-behind in smaller places.
