Newbie to Cub Cadet, Soon to own 1971 129

Hi All,
This weekend I am picking up a 1971 IH Cub Cadet that is/was my grandfather's. He has moved into a care facility recently so I am the lucky one in the family to take ownership of his pride and joy.

He bought it new and it has been stored indoors all its life. I remember he would keep it in the basement before he had a shed. As far as I can tell it is all original and in great shape.

It comes with wheel weights, chains, 42" mower, snowthrower, blade and rear plow. There may be something else there as well, didn't see all of the shed.

I am currently a Wheel Horse owner but know the build quality of these cubs and am looking forward to owning one. I am presently doing frame off restoration a Wheel Horse 310-8 that can be found at RedSquare.com. If interested look for the thread named "310-8 restoration/rebuild". Hope I didn't upset anyone by proclaiming that. :Duel: I know there are die-hards for both manufacturers. I prefer to look at it as both are tough, well built machines and I will soon be able to enjoy both! :beer2:

Looking forward to learning more about Cubs so I can keep this in the best condition possible while still working it hard. That's what they're built for right?!

OK folks, I've got pics!:bouncy:
She had not run for 6 years. A good battery and few shots of ether got her to fire up. A little rough at first but she smoothed out and has started several times on her own now.

Next weekend she will get a good bath and look even better.

Nice to see you taking over the care of your Grandfathers tractor. Looks like he took very good care of it and I trust you will do the same. Congrats and Welcome to OCC. :beerchug::beerchug:

That's a great looking Cub and some very nice implements. My 128 that I am redoing at the moment belonged to my Grandmother, so I know how nice it is to keep something like that in the family. I have a few pictures on here of the refurb. Hope to have it done in a few days. Keep us posted with pics. :beerchug:

That is a very nice 129. It is great to see that you will become its caretaker. These kinds of stories are important to keep families together and preserve what has become the pride of your Grandfather. He knows it will be card for well.

I hope you will refurbish it and bring it back to its original luster, and that you will use it as he did.
