Wheel Spacers

I have a model 70 frame and model 124 fenders. My fenders wont fit right unless I space out the wheels by 2" on each side. What is the best way to do this? I have seen 1/4 and 1/2" spacers but I need something bigger, and will it affect the tractor?

What size tires are yo using? It sounds like the dish is incorrect? I have some rims off a JD I was going to use, but the dish is way off..... Do you have external brakes? I don't think it will hurt a thing to run a spacer that large in there, but for the cost of the spacer, you could probably just get some different rims. :bigthink:

Something sounds way off. How about some pictures....??

that would be a lot of stress on the axles and rear end the axles will break in a heart beat, it does not take a lot to break a axle. the stress and the torqe will do it every time. joe allen

Would these fit a model 70 axle?

If that was indeed the case I would think that everyone running duallys would have broken an axle by now.

What are you using for wheels? They should fit if they are Cub wheels.

Nightow1 08-27-2013 02:14 PM

Ok here are some pix, This is a pulling tractor model 70 frame and a model 124 fenders. Yes they fit fine with the stock tires. I'm running 23X10.50 12" tires and plan to use 26" for stock altered class. As you can see from the pix the fender center box sits around 3/4" on both sides to far out. I don't want to cut up the fenders it took weeks to get the body work finished on them. I see a lot of pullers at the track using spacers for there larger wheels. I really need help here I have less than 2 weeks to have her ready for the Richardson County fair.
Also I have some 1" spacers for the frame mounting so it sits up high enough for 26" tires just trouble with the width?????:Bowdown2:

Oh the tires that are on it now are the same size as my stock class pulling tires these are just what I have on while I work on it.

jmroy 08-27-2013 03:21 PM

Flip the wheels around.

Nightow1 08-27-2013 03:30 PM

ROFL I never even thought of that. It will work I think for now, But I would still like to use my 26" for stock altered. So I need to come up with something. I was hoping someone would know if those spacers would fit!

The guy selling them sent me this description but I' dumb and cant seem to figure out what he meant.

The lug pattern is 4 1/2 x 5 on these. That means 5 lug studs in a 4.5 inch circle on center. I'm away from home til tomorrow and can't tell you the center opening for sure. I'm thinking the center opening is just over 2 inches.

those aren't 124 fenders either, those are off of a 126. the tires on my tractor (26x12x12 87in circumference ) are real close to the frame, if you were to use those fenders you cut out all the interfering piece's . those style fenders aren't real popular because the driver will sit to high. you want a low center of gravity. the 122, 124 style fenders or the round fenders are a popular choice because of that. you want to keep the back of the tractor as narrow as you can , it greatly improves handling

Nightow1 08-27-2013 06:25 PM

Sorry you are right they are 126 fenders. My bad.

Nightow1 08-27-2013 07:29 PM

Ok so what would work. I want.to run up to 26" tires for stock altered. What fenders do I need to buy that will bolt on and work with little or no modifications, I'm also using a flat aluminum seat which fit perfect on the 126 fenders. I don't care if. I have to buy new / used fenders I just want to get this working soon. Thanks everyone. :bash2:

JALLEN 08-27-2013 08:02 PM

if you read a dual wheel install sheet it says to run the out side tire pressure lower then the inside but i have seen axles break for this reason. thanks joe

dvogtvpe 08-27-2013 08:09 PM

its going to be difficult trying to keep it stock.

Nightow1 08-27-2013 08:16 PM

We can make body modifications in our stock class.
I just had a friend offer me a set of 122 fenders, So I hope this fixes my problem .

dvogtvpe 08-27-2013 08:19 PM

you may have to cut off part of the inner fender

Nightow1 08-27-2013 08:21 PM

I'm sorry if I didn't explain. Myself well, I'm not making it a dull tire set up, it's just a single tire on each axel, just not enough clearance on the inside of where the fenders mount between the tire, width problem.

So will the 122 fenders work , as far as width and hight clearance? An still be able to use my flat seat.

if your willing to do some cutting. I can fit any 26x12x12 tire on a 70 with 122 fenders on it. you should be able to use a flat aluminum seat and bolt it to the center section of the fenders. We use flat aluminum seats with the required 3 in backrest. We make our own seat box's to bolt the fenders to out of aluminum for weight savings.
I have fiberglass round fenders on mine

Tim.E 08-27-2013 08:46 PM

Those rims probably won't work with the 122 fenders either, because your rims have more backspacing than stock Cub Cadet rims. The 122 fenders measure 15-3/8 between the fenders if you use the original seat tower/mount ( the part that the fenders bolt to).In the pictures,it looks like you probably don't have that much. You may have to get some Cub Cadet 8.5 x 12 rims in order to use stock Cub Cadet fenders.
I don't think 26" tall tires will fit under the 122 fenders without raising them up an inch or two.

Nightow1 08-28-2013 12:36 AM

Ok I think I got it. I'm going to cud 4.25" from the center of the 126 fenders, then weld them back. That will make it 10 1/8 " and fit the model 70 frame perfect. Then Ill just reenforce with 1/8" flat steel for the mounting holes. This should make it fit both height and easily take 26" tires. Or SO I HOPE LoL.
Well I say Me but what I relay mean is My friend Trent, He is a master fabricator, so if anyone can make this work he can.

Wish me luck. I will post some pix as we go.:beatdeadhorse:

Looking good!

austin8214 09-26-2013 02:07 PM

Your going to wish your tires are in tighter to your frame.

Nightow1 09-26-2013 02:53 PM

they will be with the new rims / tires, just waiting on them
