front pto adjustment
is there any way to adjust the front pto without the guage on a 127?:bigthink:
Trial and error....good luck.:crap:
you wouldn't happen to have an extra gauge would you Matt?
Unfortunately not...I've only ever bought 1 rebuild kit. I wonder if someone has a drawing of the gauge...?
yeah that would be nice to see the measurements...be easy made wouldn't it

Some may disagree but this is what I do.
1.) Remove the PTO. 2.) Tighten the jamb nuts on the back side a little bit keeping the tension even between the three screws. 3.) Slide the PTO back into its basket do NOT replace set screws. 4.) Clamp some Vice Grips on the drive shaft. 5.) By hand, physically try to turn the PTO. 6.) Check the engage lever to make sure it will release. Depending on how easy it slips, repeat steps 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6, until it is difficult to make the PTO slip. As long as the tension between the three screws is pretty even, you should be good to go. Do not forget to replace the set screws after final adjustment has been made. |

Do you happen to have a drawing of a WF PTO Gauge? Thanks a lot!
Mike, are you talking about a wf with an electric pto?.....if so you only need a .010 feeler gauge to adjust it
Dieseldog...Nope, there are two versions of those gauges...for different versions of the IH mechanical PTO. One for the early (NF) single bent-end tri-springs and another for the later (WF) double flat-end tri-springs.

Kind of a related question. My Model 123 has been adjuted to the .015 gap between button and spring plate. The PTO stays engaged full time. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
Hi Shorty..Welcome to the OCC... There's help for the front PTO but it would help a lot to see the the PTO when 1) engaged and 2)when you have pulled the handle and it's supposed to be disengaged. 2 photo's would tell those of us familiar with them a lot. My crystal ball quit working and I can't see what 's wrong from way down here in Texas...(:-}>...
