O with the 9 speed

What happened to the thread with that in it? Did someone here get it?

dvogtvpe 08-15-2013 06:43 PM

since it was sold they probably deleted it.

R Bedell 08-15-2013 08:30 PM

Items in the Trading Post section are deleted when: (A) they are sold, or (B) when they exceed 30 days.

ACecil 08-15-2013 10:14 PM

The item was sold and it was deleted.

hdsdcouple 08-15-2013 10:19 PM

red56turbo 08-16-2013 01:32 PM

CubDieselFan 08-17-2013 07:33 PM

That is neat. What is the top travel speed?

fisherman1526 08-17-2013 10:43 PM

Thanks guys. Was working in Beaver Dam Wisconsin and got back to the hotel Wednesday night and decided to look at the local craigslist ads and seen it. Had to do some bidding wars to get it and it helped I was only 45 minutes away. Left work at 10 the next morning to pick it up. Thank God for good friends too for being able to wire the money to me in such a short notice. Had to jump through some hoops but got it done. I figured it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Just wish the wife seen it that way. Lol

fisherman1526 08-17-2013 10:49 PM

Top speed is 10.8 mph!!
I wish I could have seen all the posts here before they were deleted. Sounds like it was quite the talk

red56turbo 08-18-2013 12:54 AM

Congrats on the score. Too bad you got into a bidding war. He asked $XXXX for it and should've sold it for the asking price. If they want bids, put it on an auction site. :bash2: I hate when that happens, especially for you....... Happened to me once and never again. Ok, off my soapbox. :biggrin2:

We needs some more pics of that beauty! :beerchug:

That is Awesome!

I heard something to the tune of only 11 known to exist? :bigthink:
You seem to have some magic powers when it comes to finding this stuff.
One more thing........Quit hording all the wheel weights to yourself :beerchug:

Oak 08-18-2013 10:35 AM

Congrats on a super rare score! I never seen one but I know Geezer had one at one time and I think another guy has a bunch of them. They are from "over there" and thats all I can say about that.

How many were made and what did they cost new...anybody know?

Ha ha Craig, the pile has gotten bigger since you were last here

dvogtvpe 08-18-2013 12:11 PM

Mike Masharis who originaly owned Geezers said it looked like it was that one he sold to Geezer.

red56turbo 08-18-2013 12:24 PM

Yep,
The one Mike owned and sold to William moved on to another collector. I heard they made roughly 100 of the units. They started at serial number 1000 or 1001 and went to the 1100 range. Someone found some NOS ones and I saw where a NOS sold for $2000+ a couple years ago without a tractor attached. There was one in central Illinois a year or so ago, but it disappeared......:bigthink:

Definitely a nice, rare find. Now you'll have to find a prototype or preproduction Original to put it on...........

Last I had heard, the one William sold was in a collection on the east coast. I think William's also had a hood decal that had "M&W Gear".

Surfed the web and found a pic of William's Original. Definitely looks different. You can see the M&W on the hood.

dvogtvpe 08-18-2013 01:09 PM

11 or 12 years ago I purchased an NOS one from and old fella in the Green Bay area that had owned an IH dealership. He had several Cubs. 1 was an original with a 9 speed and then the NOS kit that I got. I had never seen one let alone 2 in 1 place. I gave $100 for it. resold it for $750 to a guy in Minnesota with in a few hours. I wonder if this could have been that original. I tried to buy the one in the tractor but He didn't want to part with it.

fisherman1526 08-18-2013 10:16 PM

The guy told me his brother found it in northern Wisconsin. Looks like it was a little rough before he painted it. Seat is really pitted and some other pitting on the frame. Hood was bent and straightened in the front. Maybe it is the same if it sounds like anything you remember.
Could that decal be something that came on these? Or something made and put on?
I want to do this one up as nice as I can. I'm thinking of putting the 9 speed in my O with rear PTO with reverser fenders and lights with a nice shiny paint job. Hoping I get time to do it this winter so I can bring it to red power round up in Huron SD next summer

zippy1 08-19-2013 02:09 AM

Alright, I've been wearing blinders all my life I guess.
Never heard of the 9 speed "O" could someone enlighten me of this tractor?

Donovan M. 08-19-2013 02:19 AM

Nice find on the nine speed O!!! Instead of a creeper Ih offered a three speed trans that bolted up to the fornt of the regular transmission or some sort.

rweaver 08-27-2013 09:36 PM

on the 9 speed that geezer had that now lives in hiding in maine the owner does not show it or take it out he lives like a hermit he got mad at the phone company and shot the wires off the house with his shotgun he seemed a little radical we had a nice long talk here on many things there are a lot of things he did that was fun to listen to
