This is the only forum that the dreaded "404 not found" occurs to me.
I have deleted my cookies (actually entire history) 3 times, in the last 3 weeks. It is too much trouble to delete history that often just to visit here. I am done,, somebody email me when the issue with this forum is resolved. BYE |
Sorry to hear that you are having that problem. :Sorry:
I can ASSURE you, that you are not being targeted by anyone at OCC, nor the Server. I suspect the problem(s) lie within your PC, in that NO ONE else has complained in public or by private message. I personally have NO issues. So, I do not know what we can do for you. |

Never ever had that pop up on my end. I'm not a puter geek but I would assume its your puter, location of servers access. NIK, |
I started getting the 404 yesterday off and on. Right now I can navigate the site but can't click on any threads without getting the 404.
|
I had the same thing a few days ago.
I ran my anti-virus and spam/malware utilities and found I had 9 infections. Cleaned them up.........no more problems. |
It's a problem with my laptop for sure. I connect fine with my phone. I just logged off and signed back in and it's working fine again.
|
I have this problem with my samsung s4 phone. Any ideas how to fix? Can only view threads with more than 3pages. Even then I can't see the last two. Help?
|
No problems on this end. Must be something on your phone's end.
|
I don't have any issues with my phone either. :bigthink:
|
I occasionally get that message on my lap top at home, if I sign out then sign back in it goes away..... Don't know if that actually addresses the problem, but it has worked so far! I have not experiened it on my phone or work computer.
|
No issues on my phone either.
|
Never had the issue til recently
|
I've also had issues with it.
|
A sporadic 404 could be a sign server capacity is being maxed out. An average server will only be able to take 300-400 simultaneous connections for dynamic pages, probably thousands for static content. Once it's too much pressure the relief valve opens and it starts serving 404s . So if you hit the site at the same time as a couple hundred other people or the google bots you might get that. It's a timing issue which is why it's sporadic and hard to reproduce. At least that's my hypothesis.
:BangPC: |
I'm having the same problem with my Samsung S5. At the beginning of the summer I did not notice any problems. Now, I can view some posts but normally not all the pages. It's very sporadic. I've only noticed the 404 error on this forum. Desktop computer has always worked great. I've always thought it was my phone but now I'm not sure. Maybe it's a setting on my phone and on other peoples desktop. If I find a solution, I'll post it.

I have had this a few times recently.
-Log out of OCC. -Clear your browser history. -Clear cookies. Try again. This has worked well for me. (fyi- I use google chrome) |
Anyone here have any issue with the pics or anything that is from Photobucket not showing up when using a mobile device? In the last couple months when I check the site from my phone, none of the pics up to or anything anyone posts via Photobucket will show. Just a white box with a ? in it. No issues on the PC. :bigthink:

Everything seems to work fine for me jmech. I had the problem when iwas using a aftermarket browser. Switched back to oem and its fine

404 Message
I also have this 404 problem. It only happens on this Forum. Each time I log off the internet, all cookies are cleared. I am using Fire Fox as my Browser. Have ran my antivirus and malware apps and nothing found. I also believe that it may have something to do with the servers. This started about a month ago for me. Hope it gets cleared up.

I also run FireFox and I have NO problems logging in. I would suggest clearing your DNS cache.

Thanks for the info R Bedell. Did not know of this before. Sure hope this fixes my problem. I build my own computers and try to keep them as clean as possible, but always glad to learn something new. Thanks once again for this info.
