108 doesnt run when I disconnect battery
I jump it off with a battery and it runs fine while hooked up, but disconnect the hot or ground it stops. Does the s/g provide the voltage that goes to the points when battery isnt hooked up? I placed a test light on hot wire for starter generator and it barely lights up. got the tractor running and it just shot off like a rocket and ran into my 147 and drag stuff over 4 acres before i stopped it,lol. Thanks

You have to have a Battery to supply the voltage necessary for the Ignition Coil. :IH Trusted Hand: |
Actually, I believe the answer is yes. If I understand correctly, you want to know if it will still run even with the battery disconnected. It should. If it dies when you disconnect the battery, then your charging system isn't working properly.

yes just like a car the s/g will supply the power needed to run the tractor once it is running as long as it is connected right and it is in working order
|
So it should read somewhere Around 14.5 running? Both good generator and battery?

All mine will die at idle if there is no battery it needs ti be reved up slightly tonproduce power
|
Mine run after the battery is taken out

OK guys we accept the fact that you can run the tractor after you get it started and up to a speed that will allow the SG to supply enough voltage to fire the ignition. Now after you turn it off how do you plan on getting it running? Do any of us remove the battery after starting? I'm done have at it. :bash2:

Now if we can figure out how to make em run after removing gas tank, then we got something.............:biggrin2:

What about removing the driver? Can we get the yard mowed simply by using GPS? :bigthink:
And yes, one of the most hilarious things I have ever seen was a former customer of mine installed his lightbar parallel guidance system and his ground speed radar from his old sprayer on his mower. It was the most high tech 50 inch cut in the county at that time. |
My 70 will run w/the battery disconnected and my 73 will not even though it has a newly rebuilt S/G.
Does the 73 have a voltage regulator problem then? Dave S. |
There's probably an app for that.
