Found a couple of great deals this weekend

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Found a couple of deals that I went and picked up this weekend. First was 6 new Carlise super lug, 23X10.50X12 4ply tires. They had been mounted on wheels and taken off as part of a surplus sale in the city of Detroit. Paid 25.00 a piece for them, 150.00 for the whole pile, had to drive about 40 miles each way to get them, but well worth it. The last set I bought locally cost 160.00 for the pair. The next thing was 4 IH weights and 6 John Deere weights found at a tractor junk yard not far from home. Was there looking for some parts for my father in laws cub loboy and found these on different garden tractors sitting there. Paid him 150.00 for all 10 weights and I had to take them off. I guess I had to work for the good deal. Anyway, like I said at the begining, better to be lucky than good.

Rose in a pile of s---

I ran into a similar pile of GOLD last week.
I occasionally go to a ag scrap yard just to see what he has.
He buys most anything @ auction and sells parts and scraps the rest.
He does alright.
So, while walking through heaven--- er the scrap pile,
I see this yeller thing sticking out of the pile to be loaded out when scrap prices rebound a little.
Turns out it is what is left of a cub. Guessing maybe early '70's wide frame.
Not much left but the manual trans dif/frame.
One axle is broke @ the rotor/flange from pushing it up on the pile with the hydra hoe. Wheels are bent & chloride wasted, 3/4" spindles bent, but
I spot a right angle tiller gearbox on the back as well as the complete sleeve hitch:biggrin2.gif:
So I remove the tiller mount/gear box, sleeve hitch and some other stuff that maybe I can use,
I Pile it in the rig and ask him how much do I owe you? He ponders a bit, smiles and said, gotta have 'least $10.00!! thairs alot of iron there!
I said ok, you win this time. ---
Turns out the voltage reg was rust/junk but the gear box looks new inside!
So now my 782 has a sleeve hitch on it,--- just don't know what I need it for, but I'll figger out something.
I gave the right angle gear box with the purdy IH logo to my son as a spare for his tiller, or he will put it on evil pay come spring for someone in need. :BlahBlah:

Looking back, maybe I should of returned it all and demanded my money back 'cause the voltage regulator was junk--:biggrin2.gif:

Cool deal, ol'George! You made out good. :beerchug:

Ol'George, looks like you had a great day also. It is amazing sometimes what you can find out walking in a jewel yard. I also found the top link for the lift and when I ask the owner of the yard how much for that, he said, "oh, those are rare and hard to find, I need 75.00 for that along. The rod was rusted solid in it and it was missing the link pin, so I took the weights and still left with a big grin on my face. Bottom line is guys, get out and find those out of the way yards, they often will bring big rewards. Thanks everyone for the offers on the lugs, but they will be on a 169, 1650, and 682 before spring. Now if I can find a deal on a pair of 23X8.50X12 for the 128 that I plow with and a set of 6X12 for my original that I recently got an 8" plow to try out in the spring.
