A little St. Patricks Day Luck
Got one of those phone calls where my friend knows a guy who has a Cub and wants it gone! I believe it is a 122. Not sure what its coming with or if it runs. I'm pretty sure it is complete. Anyways, going to pick it up tomorrow. I will post pictures then.

Good luck!

Well had to work a little for it, had to take the deck of to get it on my wimpy trailer. PO gave me a seat, the grille piece, and other mower deck pieces. Its a project alright. I believe the black engine means it is a replacement motor correct? Its a twelve horse. Below should be some pics...

looks like minimal rust on the tractor, a good pressure wash and scrub on that thing and it will look great.
|
nice and clean 122, congrats:beerchug:

Thanks. I cleaned the carb. Now I have to clean the tank up. and replace the old copper fuel line. Anyways, it turns over, has spark, getting fuel (trying it on starting fluid in the meanttime), points are sparking. Spark plug is not wet. But still won't start, not even a pop or a sputter. Am I missing something obvious?:bigthink:
|
Not a bad looking 122 at all! :beerchug:
|
IHCUBCADET: When these guy's sit for awhile the valves will sometimes stick (:HeadScratch:With the new fuels chances are it will be the intake), pull the valve breather cover off and roll the motor over and see if both valves are freely moving all the way down. :GoodLuck:
|
Congrats!:beer2:

have a compression tester?
|
I don't have a compression tester. Both valves are moving fine I checked
|
you can pick one up at napa for about 20 bucks, it will tell you if the engine is any good. where in NJ are you?
|
I will certainly get one for the next tractor, but I finally got the tractor to start. Now I just have to get two new fittings and put a rubber fuel line on. The original one is shot. And I am located a few miles south of Flemington, NJ.
|
glad you got it running.
Flemington are is nice, im in Clark. |
I got a few friends down by you.
|
Donovan, yeah I know some of your friends down here, I have made this connection from seeing your name come up on facebook.
Cleaned the bowl and tank today and put it on and ran it for awhile, but found another problem. When I went to drive it, the gears grind and it will not go into gear. I believe it is simple fix, I think the the nut on the arm that compresses the clutch is too loose. I may be wishful thinking, I will know when I get more time. After that I am anxious to get it cleaned up and useable. |
Your clutch plates are prolly stuck to the clutch disc.Lock the clutch pedal down then use a thin putty knife and a few taps with a hammer between the plates and that should free it up.
Did you go to the auction on rt 12 a few weeks back? |
No I did not go to that auction, some of my friends went, one bought a 108 i think and the other one bought a cub cadet transmission. I heard there was a Cub Cadet 70 there and you posted pics of one around the same time on here. Thats where you got it?
