when did they first start producing the model 70? an mine would be an earlier production then correct?

drhntrrmw 03-12-2013 01:06 PM

Congratulations on the 70.
I saw your tractor posted on CL.

That deck does appear to be the correct deck.
I'm sure others will chime in with more certantee and additional information.

gregfromny 03-12-2013 01:19 PM

Yes, I have a camp in Avoca, NY and travel from my home in central vermont quite often so I look for cubs along the corridor.

I just brought one back from that area this fall.

Great buy at $75!

Nice work!!

red56turbo 03-12-2013 01:27 PM

Nice 70! Congrats on the pickup. I think you did great by getting it for $75, especially if the seller started at $350! :beerchug:

gregfromny 03-12-2013 01:27 PM

Great looking 123 as well...

gregfromny 03-12-2013 01:47 PM

well its started out as i was buying a 1015 cub for a friend an he was giving me his 129 with a blown motor we went to pay the girl with the 1015 who was at her dads house. the kid that had the 70's bosses house same place i had them get ahold of him bout the 70 i also asked if knew where there were anyothe cubs he told me to go out back (the 123) i offer 50 for it he came back with 75 i said sold lol so technically i bought 3 cubs for 250 not bad for one day. the 129 i sold to another friend for $75 i sold my old 126 for $50 i kept the plow wheel weights all 4 rims an tires, i can complain ive been doing good with dumping tractors fairly quick i knew the 123 was worth something once i get it running it will be up for sale.

60615 is too early for your 70. The 70 and 100 model SN's started at the mid 65,000 range. Your 70 is early though, as it has the big battery box.

gregfromny 03-12-2013 02:22 PM

they were the numbers on the side of the transmission. is there another place i should look on it for numbers?

gregfromny 03-12-2013 03:47 PM

thank you where abouts do you look up the info to find out what year they are?

johncub7172 03-12-2013 05:39 PM

That looks like a IH 38" 3 spindle mower deck from a IH Cub Cadet 72. I have seen early model 70's with left over timed decks from the Originals. I'm almost certain your deck is from a 72.

I better go get a picture of the deck that is on my 71.

Yea, I stand correct. The deck you have is from a 1968 model 72.

You should have a deck like this: note the cast iron sides

http://i49.tinypic.com/fq646.jpg[/IMG]

http://i49.tinypic.com/5a292h.jpg[/IM

and what's more is where the 70, 100, and 71 fasten to the mower deck:

Also sure that your 70 could have a deck like the above pictures. hope this helps.

cubcadet 03-12-2013 07:00 PM

nice, and nice 123:beerchug:

darkminion_17 03-12-2013 09:10 PM

you did well on both tractors.
Congrats!!!

gregfromny 03-13-2013 02:06 PM
