Every time I think about it this really makes me want to puke!

Can you believe that any (insert expletive here) idiot would do something like this??? I realize that there are some really (expletive again) stupid people out there, but this (expletive once more) dumb (expletive) should be made to watch while someone cuts his (expletive expletives) off, with a really dull knife!!!

On the up side.... You have a one of a kind grill :Spank:

I'm just kiddin ya Yosemite Sam, I know exactly what you mean. Somebody thought it was a good idea.

Mouse 11-17-2009 09:26 PM

I saw a guy on a pedal bike once, on the express way, run over by a truck......somethings you just can't redo.

ACecil 11-17-2009 10:10 PM

It's amazing what some people do to cubs. :bigthink:

Roblynn 11-18-2009 11:07 AM

As Homer would say......DOOOOH!:bash2:

wshytle 11-18-2009 03:14 PM

YoSam-

That was probably done long ago before the tractor became a special item in life. Remember, there are actually people out there that don't give a hoot for cubs. I, myself, have a green tractor that I wouldn't think twice about drilling a hole in if needed. The only thing to do now is either clean it up and paint it or replace it. I also think that twenty years from now this would be a lot bigger deal but for the time being parts can be found relatively easy.

2 cents....Wayne

That's uneducated backwoods redneck modification.
Whoever did it, just didn't have a clue to rarity of the grill he destoyed.
Is that an Original grill?

ACecil 11-18-2009 03:45 PM

You are correct, eastonct124! That grille is for an Original.

grampascub 11-19-2009 08:49 AM

I guess maybe i wont post pics of mine now that its done:bash2:

DrBailey 11-21-2009 11:35 AM

Guys, these BOLD insulting remarks are why I dont post much , MY pics might show MY SFB`s hobbies. I like custom! tractors, cars, trucks and even wreckers, nothing I do it to insult anyone`s intelligence`s, it is simply what I enjoy. Its a very short life, Im doing what makes me happy, no matter what color it is. :Poof:

This is a tough one for me

I love all the custom cubs out there the 4x4s the crawlers the trike the high clear ect the ones with v8s ect ect
There is a fine line between butcher work and beauty
I think there are thoes who are purests and thoes who have a vision and are able to beautifully complete thet vision. I have 4 cubs 3 will be restored and the 4th will get crazy modifications
I love all the opinions and think each of us hav a cub or 3 we wouldn't modify but leave factory original, lol and have a cub or 3 we would love to make into a 4x4 or trike
An O is a untouchable for me Jason

eastonct124 11-24-2009 10:05 AM

I've been restoring cars for a living my whole life. I mean cars that go to The Concours at pebble beach, show quality perfection.
I'd be banned from the business if I took a mustang 65' GT350R (R are the limited production factory race cars prepared by Carroll Shelby's guys), and turned it into a custom.
That can be done to a standard mustang, or any other of the millions of mass produced junkboxs out there.
Like it's been said, that grill is rare, so what was done to it, is sickening to us...because it's ruined, and rare to begin with.
But, who knows, the guy who did it, may have a pile of them, and to him....it's not rare.

truckntran 11-24-2009 11:23 AM

Sure would like to see more of your metalwork from work, Eastct...Have you done any Jeep restorations?

On the subject of the ruined grille.. beauty is all in the eye of the beholder.. and hopefully this was done back in the 60's or 70's when old cubs were just old garden tractors and nothin' special. I wouldn't do it today for sure.. but.....how many of us have added headlights to a quiet line or wide frame that weren't original.... and cut into an otherwise pristine stock part.. At least the grille could be used with headlights for a fairly stock looking unit. Now I have seen headlight additions that will scare ya ....:BlahBlah::BlahBlah::BlahBlah:
