I just got a 1963 O and when i striping it it seem like is was red back on the tras. and on the hood under the decals. is that just the primer or what ??:bigeyes:

So far my research only indicates the yellow and white ones. Maybe someone painted yours red and another PO repainted it back. The only red color I know of is inside the rear end.

its the same red as the red in the tras.

Its the same red as on the in side of the rear end.

When I wire wheeled mine down I had the same red as well as green as primers on the rear end. Not sure what IH used for primers back then; I dunno if that is original or a PO paint job. :bigthink:

Hay i notes that the front cover on yours is white down wheir the belt pulleys are is that the way it come or is it to be yellow ? i have seen it white on a fue

I assume you are talking about my Sig Picture, that is not my O just a nice looking one, but I am not sure. I think it was white originally on all of them, but not sure, I personally think it looks better white than Yellow.

I just striped the trans on my o and it was red as well. Looks to be a good primer they used originally.

The Cub Original was NEVER painted red from the factory. The red seen in the "cast iron" parts is this.....Glyptal

It was used as a sealer / primer.

I could have swore that I read somewhere that IH built 30 O's that they painted red and white to experiment to see if they liked the red better than the yellow. If this is true most of them must have been painted over at the dealer (like they did the gold demos) to be yellow and white. I'll have to do some more research though.

The prototypes were red.

Some yellow or white either is correct.
