I picked-up a 126 the other day. I think it has a broken rod, but none the less appears to be complete. Here is a pic & I might be asking some questions about this tractor come Spring.

Thanks!
Bill

Nice score on the 126 Bill!
Looks to be in pretty good shape.

Good looking tractor! I'm sure you will have lots of fun with it. Is that a pulley of the side of the hood???:bigthink:

Yes - it's a RARE exclusive from IH for the 126... LOL

Sam Mac 01-23-2013 03:44 PM

And the pulley is for what? :bigthink:

Sam - it looks to me like a stand-in for a large hood hinge washer - LOL!

I wonder if he had a plow on it and ran a cable from the plow over the pulley to the lift handle? :bigthink:

Nice find on the 3rd lowest production IH Cub. Looks like I see headlights (hard to find) and the always missing grille. Congrats!

Yes - it has headlights and a nice IH logo between them too. The dash is in great shape, though no hour meter - which I like. Who said something like, "how old would you be if you didn't know how old you were."

I've mentioned to different folks that the only thing I don't like about hydro's is that in my neck of the woods, I've got about 10 to 20 yards of flat for constant speed with the hydro and then its up or down and I get infinite speeds faster or slower and I've got to correct it, so I have my hand on the hydro lever seemly at all times - LOL! I converted my two Wheelhorse hydro tractors to foot control, but with a gear drive, I've got cruise control regardless of the terrain. This 126 is a nice gear drive combo with power and gas economy, constant speed and if I need more speed control, I can add a creeper and if I need more than the arm strong lift, I can add an electric lift. I also like this hood style (for me) most among all the IH Cub Cadets.

Thanks!
Bill

fixing the trunion will stop the inconsistent speed up and down hills

cubcadet 01-23-2013 06:59 PM

The 126 doesn't have a trunion..

The 126 is in my humble opinion is the best norrow frame tractor ever built. I love mine, even though its in pieces right now..

They were an option on all the 1X6 & 1X7 except for the 147 and to find a correct set in good condition will lighten the wallet.:biggrin2:

That or it had a Rube Goldberg device hooked up to it that raised the hood in a unique way! Got to be one the of the most unique PO repairs that I have seen. Nonetheless, you got a 126 that appears to be in good, restoreable shape--Congratulations!

Congrats on your 126!

Love mine, but sits outside, with no back tires and engine or drive shaft.

I picked-up a deck and subframe for my 1650, but while I was at the seller's place, he had a spare flywheel screen that I need for the 12 hp engine I am putting in my 126.

It was a good parts finding day!

Last summer a new neighbor moved into the area bringing with him a nice looking cub 126 with that same set up, a pully on the side of the hood. I had to ask the old boy, what's that for? His reply was to help him lift his heavy snowblower. He didn't have the strength that he use to so he run a cable up over the pully and down to the blower to pull streight up on it. I thought, The old boy still knows how to to use his noodle! Hey, what ever works to get the job done! :biggrin2:

Cubcrazy 03-15-2013 06:30 AM

I have come across a couple that had the same setup also.
