New Cub Accessories!

I recently bought a Creeper Gear and a Hydraulic Lift as well as a 3 pt. Hitch for my 104! I haven't had time to install them yet, but certainly not looking forward to taking the drive shaft out of it again.... Can be a pain in the butt! Just thought I would Post some Pics, because I know you all like pictures! :beerchug:

Does Anyone know where to get 10W oil for the Hydro-Unit or what Oil do you use?

Good find.

Very nice! You can use Hy-Tran in the hydraulic lift.

Cory

Nice stuff

take a look at this drive shaft coupler from Mid West Super Cubs.

"3” Long Driveshaft Coupler -Hardened Steel (Change top pinionwithout removing driveshaft)"

I bought one for that 71 I'm working because I can't move the engine forward when doing clutch work.

Cubcrazy 11-24-2012 07:18 PM

Nice score on the goodies!:beerchug:

Thanks for the info. So this would replace the coupler in the back by the Tranny? How does this eliminate taking out the drive shaft? My biggest issue is driving those spirol pins through the drive shaft... I guess I need to buy a special punch to do it easier.

Cory

With my 71 because I have a Mag12 in it with the deep sump I have to move the drive shaft to the rear to remove the engine. I can't just move the engine forward, it has to come straight up. This setup gives you more room to work with. In your case it may not be worth it, just thought I'd toss it out for you to think about. I have a grade 8 bolt in the front hole rather than the spirol pin.

ihcc104 11-24-2012 08:33 PM

Awesome, thanks. I just checked out their site and they have a lot of stuff. Thanks for sharing. So grade 8 bolts have the same shear strength as spirol pins?

They are likely stronger but will wear the hole in the coupler and driveshaft because they are not a tight fit in the hole. They used spirol pins for a reason...

Sam Mac 11-24-2012 08:52 PM

If I didn't have to be able to remove it I'd use the spirol pins, they fit the bore a bit tighter and my 71 will never see much hard work. It's just a play toy. It may pull a lawn seeder.

Sam Mac 11-24-2012 08:55 PM

Looks like Matt and I posted about the same time with about the same answer. :beerchug:

ihcc104 11-24-2012 09:00 PM

Spirol pins it is! Lol, do either of you know if you can use the pins that are just 1 round of steel instead of the spirol looking ones? I can't seem to find spirol ones any place other than CC.

Sam Mac 11-24-2012 09:12 PM

Mid West has them

Spiral Driveshaft Pin 1/4” X 1 1/2 “ Long
Priced Individually
Prt No. SP1 $1.85

I think I remember Matt had a place to get them even cheaper.

MWSC couplers

Those are great, we use them in our pulling tractor. We also just use grade 5 bolts instead of 8's. They are a little softer which lets them give without snapping under great load. Also it does help to slide a 1/4 punch in to help line everything up first and then drive it out with the pin or bolt. They do make special punches for these, the have a small dimple on the end to help it stay centered on the pin. Midwest does have a lot of good stuff some is good for stock mowing the lawn stuff too. They have kevlar clutch disc replacements that are quite nice as well.

Just curious, any idea why the creeper has the breather extension? The rebuilt one I bought has the stubby factory one.

Cubcrazy 11-25-2012 06:54 AM

McMaster Carr is a good place to get the coiled spring pin.
I get them from there and buy them in a 25 piece bag.
I can't seem to find the part number right now though!:bash2:

Well I Looked online and since I am using it on a NF, I will need an extension on the handle and breather to get up and out of the frame... I was under the impression that I would need an extension... I figured if it wasnt suppose to stick up as high that there wouldnt be a hole in the frame for it, am I wrong? :bigthink:

Right, so I bought some fittings to get the breather up and out of the tunnel cover... I think it costed me $0.75 for the nipple and coupler.

ihcc104 11-26-2012 10:10 AM

Thanks CubCrazy for suggesting McMaster, I just ordered a belt and the 25 pack of spirol pins from them, they have everything. So If anyone needs spirol pins, I've got enough to last more than my lifetime now. Lol
