6-12 ags

I have a chance to get a pair of 6-12 ags but I have a question: 6 = width and the 12 is the rim size. What would be the diameter? I am thinking of putting a set of these on my 169 but I don't know if they are a match for the 23 x 8.5 -12 tires that are on there now.

I've got a set of 6-12 turf tires and 23x8.50 turfs sitting out on the back porch I can go measure the height. Be right back.

Darn, that's a cold rain. It looks like the trick or treaters are done for the night and I'll have to eat the rest of the candy.:biggrin2.gif:

There's not much difference in height. only 1/4" The 23x8.50 on 7" wide wheels are 22" tall and the 6-12 on 6" wheel is 21.75

So I would have to put the 6-12's on 6" wheels and not on the 7" wide ones?

I will probably get corrected, but at least then you will know. I just measured my 6-12s..about 5" and the 8.50s..about 7". Maybe I don't know how to measure them, but that's what I got. Hope it helps.

I was thinking my wheels are 6" wide, I measured them and they are only 5" wide and the sidewalls are pretty much straight up and down. With 2" difference between the tread width and wheel width the sidewalls are pretty exposed and vulnerable to anything that wants to jump up and take a bite. If you plan on mounting them yourself it could be a chore to set the bead unless you have a bead blaster or put tubes in them.

Me thinks that maybe I should forget my idea about the 6-12's and just get 23x8.5 ags, although at a much greater cost.:bigthink:

Well you will only be buying one set of tires that way.:biggrin2.gif:

Me thinks you are right...:bigthink:... Narrower less traction on the dirt, helps in the snow though. dig up mud faster get stuck more often.

How much are the 6-12's? If you can't use them I can.

The 23-8.50's can be found fairly cheap on ebay.

I bought a set of 6 ply 23-10.50's from the same guy for 112 delivered and had them in 3 days

The 6-12's are free from my father-in-law. I just found out yesterday that they are all ready on 12 inch rims. I misunderstood my F-I-L when I talked to him about the tires. I think I am going to get them and try them on my 169 and see how they are.

I think that I am going to order a set of the ags for my 1862. That's a great deal. Thanks for the heads up cubquest!:beerchug:
