'Nother 70
Picked up 'nother 70 on thurs in NY state.
It also came with a EZ Rake attachment. There are no rips in the canvas, motor runs when you squirt gas in the carb.I am sure it needs a cleaning. Now When I went to look at this there was no mention of coming with one,but I didn't want to leave it there.Stored in a upper part of the barn since 1984.Some PO mods but not too bad.The gas tank will have to be cleaned out and so does the carb, but it should be running by Sunday Saw 'nother 70 on the side of the road on the way home on rt 206...No room but I did leave my card. :biggrin2: |
keep rubbing it in...we get nothing like that around here.

Amazing! That lil' Briggs motor is a good one! I just replaced the diaphram in the carb. There was no return from the pump part. Mine had a sponge in the gas tank. That desolved and totaly plugged up the carb. Nice set up find!

Lew,
When I first read the title, I thought you had found the mother lode and picked up 70 CC's at once. :biggrin2: Nice pickup on the 70. She looks to be in great shape. Boy, I'm jealous again..................:beerchug: |
Thanks guy's. :beerchug:
I do have to rebuild the carb as the leaves are falling and it needs to get running, after that I'll prolly sell it when Im done using it. |
Lew, It is good to see someone pursue these with the passion you do. It is only fitting that you should find what others can't. I hope you inspire others to get out there and look, there are always diamonds in the rough. Yours looks to be in great shape too. :biggrin2:

Here is an update.
Last week I pulled the motor on the EZ rake as it was leaking oil.I found out that the block is cracked in 3 places on the pto side,no weld can fix it as it is where the cam cover bolts are. Today I got it running after replacing the cracked head, put a new gasket and new bolts on it,it did not need the carb cleaned. A tank cleaning is in order though.:BlahBlah: |
Lew , When you say cam cover bolts , i think you are talking about the complete side cover on the engine. If that is the case , you can use another side cover from a different engine , OR , JB Weld will work the easiest.
We used it all the time on the 5HP Briggs we put in our race Karts. We tried to save all those old motors that we could , they made more power. And the JB Weld will be fine , we turned our motors at 7500 rpm's all the time. If it is cracked where the crank and seal goes , better start looking for another side cover. |
The cracks are on the block but migrate where the side cover meets in 3 places. Will give it a try.. thanx
