SLTX 1050 and a MTD 190-823 Blower

Hi, I'm new to the forum as I have purchased a SLTX 1050 tractor. I found a barely used MTD 190-823 blower, and was wondering what I would need to get it to fit. Thanks in advance, Allen Clark

Allen

You may want to take a look at the Cub and MTD parts sites

Hope these help. Sorry I'm not more help, I tend to stick to the Cyclops and some of the 72 series stuff. Once in a while I play with the 2000 series but I don't get into the newer stuff. Good luck.

Sam

Didnt take long... Went to White's Farm Supply in Canastota this morning and Jake, the very nice young man in the Parts. Dept, showed me the update kit to get my blower to fit, all for $129, or whatever it was. Since I'm tighter than two coats of paint (not really, I just don't like to spend it if I don't need to), I used about 20 mins. of my fabricating knowledge, and made what I had work. Blower is all mounted, now I just need to figure out the belt system.

Still looking forward to being a member of this forum though!

How about a pic of the setup you made.

Love to Sam... I made an attempt, but I haven't taken the time to try and figure out how to post photos here yet... :BangPC:

Here is my blower mounted. I have new chains waiting to be mounted and I also stumbled upon some wheel weights at the farm today I forgot we had! They were half buried in the ground, but I dug them out and brought them home and I am pretty sure they will work! I will keep you updated.

If we get snow it's your fault :biggrin2:

Oh come on Sam! I also acquired a snowmobile, so it will be sure to NOT snow now that I am ready! :biggrin2: My weights will work just fine too! :beerchug: I work at NAPA so I mixed up a spray can of CC white today so the weights will match the wheels. I will clean them up good and paint them because I know they wont work if they are John Deere yellow!

Some "before" and "after" photos of the weights. I used a cup brush and cleaned them up, primed and painted them. The black pieces on the "before" photo are some wheel protectors I cut out of an old innertube. I am going to try some adhesive to hold them in place while I mount them, and let you know in the Spring (or sooner :bash2:) how they worked out.

Your weights came out great!

FYI, unless your rims have a really narrow offset, those weights will touch all the way around the outside of the rim, and those rubber pieces will do nothing.

Thanks Matt! I appreciate the thought and will double check where they sit in the wheel. Might need to rethink I guess... :bigthink:

Matt G suggested I rethink where the weight might make contact with the wheel. I looked again and he was absolutely right, I would have had the rubber pieces in the wrong spot. I ended up cutting 4 bigger pieces of the tube about 2" wide, enough to go all the way around the weight (sans where the notch is for the valve stem), put one on the bottom of the wheel, carefully put the weight in and then left the nuts loose on the bolts. I then slowly rotated the wheel and worked the the remaining pieces in place, and adjusted all 4 pieces to where they weren't visible, and tightened down the nuts. The pieces of innertube tightened down nicely and hopefully will work as an insulator the protect the wheels. The other weight is ready to look like the first.

Just wanted to give an update... I finally got the parts needed to complete my install on the blower and it seems to work ok. Now for a complete teardown and make sure everything is put together properly.
