Working on the 107

Started getting the 107 in working order. My son and I have been fixing things up. Got the mowing deck wheels put on and new belt. Works nice. We finally got the plow to attach, don't think we had the right frame so we bought some shackles from TS to extend the brackets so we can use the quick attach system. Then we had to move the lift arm forward so we could get it to lift high enough. Works great now and even graded the driveway (could really use some wheel weights now). We also adjusted the gear selector so now she stays in forward while driving. Got the new front tires from GCT Wholesale on and have the rears on order. They look cool. Now that everything is working order we'll start paint prep next. OCC has been a very great help thanks all.

nice cub cadet 107 keep up the good work

TheSaturnV 07-01-2012 01:04 PM

Lookin' good, I'm going to have to do quite a bit of rigging to get my cut up snow plow to fit again. Thanks for the ideas.

Diz Jr. 07-01-2012 01:59 PM

Nice work bvillecadet

ACecil 07-01-2012 02:06 PM

Great job! Keep the pics coming.

bvillecadet 07-01-2012 02:11 PM

Thanks guys , boy sure isn't easy drilling that good old american steel from 40 years ago. I also had to shorten the frame rails on the plow and then grind new grooves for where it slides onto the tractor. Accidently grabbed the rail while hot and now have an imprssion branded in to my palm of the end. Ouch! all is good though.

drglinski 07-01-2012 06:19 PM

Looks great! A word of caution- when you aren't using the PTO clutch it's better to leave it in the engaged position so the wear button doesn't wear out prematurely. They can be expensive to fix, something to watch out for.

bvillecadet 07-01-2012 07:44 PM

Thanks I will do that right away. I didn't know.

I'm probably going to sound silly but what button are you refering to?

bvillecadet 07-01-2012 08:08 PM

I believe he's refering to the little brass(I think) button on the lever that engages the pto for the mowing deck.

TheSaturnV 07-01-2012 08:16 PM

Correct. Just push the PTO handle forward and keep it engaged when you don't have a belt on it. This way it just spins around with the motor instead of trying to clutch.

bvillecadet 07-01-2012 09:16 PM

got it , thanks will do

The paint on that 107 looks similar to one that I had a couple of years ago, but mine smoked worse than a locamotive! I really enjoyed my 107-they are a lot of fun and it looks like you have a great one there to enjoy. I like your front ags-they give the tractor a "ready for business" look. Cool pics-thanks for sharing.

Thanks "123" We're hoping it'll be a fun project to restore and put back to work. Both my son and I picked the tires we just had to have them makes it look tough. Plus we have a very steep yard and road to work with and are hoping they help. Will post more pics when we get the back ones on. We're also planning duals for stability.

Just got all the parts I need to complete my 107. Replaced the pto button with a brass one from Ebay. Driveshaft cover screen and headlight rings(the chrome ones) new nose piece for my deck because the old one had a large hole in it and some matching hangers. Just got all this in the mail today http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...mike/004-2.jpg this should complete almost everything I need to make it whole again. Electric lift, headlight panel and grill. Then comes the paint. Have been working on the front plow so that will be painted first. Thanks Lew for the parts.

ACecil 08-13-2012 06:29 PM

That's great! Looking forward to your progress.

Uh yeah, should have been more clear when typing. This was exactly what I was trying to describe. I was talking about the fiber button on the disengaging arm, some are brass, mine is fiber. (as long as it's not steel!)

http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showt...=electric+lift

this diagram needs to be on the wiring page. It helped a ton. Lift is now working

bvillecadet 10-22-2012 12:34 PM

Hey guys, here is an update on the 107. Have been swamped in the sign shop so it's been a while since i've got to work on the tractor.
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/002.jpg

made new wire harness for elect. lift and got that installed and working great. I love it. Thanks again Lew.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/029.jpg

Changed the trans fluid and snapped some shots of the rear end, very beefy.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...fall/002-1.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/001.jpg

Got the dual wheels on , found an extra set of rims at a small tractor swap meet for $20.00. Mounted new tires on those and added some Bolens wheel weights. The inner tires are filled with fluid and the outer rims have the wheel weights. traction is not an issue anymore

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/032.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/033.jpg

Also added new driveshaft shield got this at flee market nice condition.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/030.jpg

Found a new grill and painted that have all my lights on and all new wires on those.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/031.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/027.jpg

Put on new muffler fron Summit Racing, still too loud so I got one of those small glass packs from the guy on Ebay (4 inch one ) and that slid right into the end of muffler and got stack made. Sounds great now has nice tone. Still kinda loud though : )

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...20fall/036.jpg

Really enjoying the cub , haven't used my push mower in a long time and don't mind that at all. I just picked up a rear scraper blade and will post pics in the Implement section to see if any one knows what it is. Thanks Guys. Sorry for the big pics.

bvillecadet 10-22-2012 12:40 PM

Hope you guys enjoy the fall colors

Finally got a rear lift for the cub . The one I bought didn't come with the bottom piece so I made one

and this is how it turned out. I just got my welder the other day and my metal working tools are not the best but it'll do. Should have the rear blade on soon.

ACecil 11-24-2012 06:16 PM

Great job on the bracket!

cubcadet 03-27-2013 12:13 PM

bvillecadet 03-27-2013 12:16 PM

Thanks, I was hoping to get a lot more done to it this winter but business never seems to slow down , which is good too.
