Tri rib 16x6.5-8
Tri rib 16x6.5-8.....does anyone know who stocks these tires?? I don't want to spent the $70 per tire that I have seen.
|
I got deestone 4.50 x 8 tri ribs from Tucker Tire for $60 a pair with tubes, plus shipping. I realize they aren't the size you want but they are a cheap alternative if you have a set of narrow rims.....
|
placeebo effect,
I have been checking for a while and that seems to be the going rate no matter where you find them. I want a set myself but hate to pay that price. They do look cool though.:biggrin2.gif: |
I would be putting these on a 1450, and the size I stated is what I need. I too, have seen the smaller size for that price. The only place I have seen the size I need, is on ebay.
|
Just in case anyone else is interested in the Deestones, the overall diameter is roughly 16 inches uninflated.
I can't figure out why they get so much for the Firestone Tri rib, but having seen both in person I will say there has got to be twice the rubber in the Firestone. |
tires
I sell those on my web site and at $140.00 there is very little $$$ made on them. In fact with shipping it's very slim, www.cubclassics.com
|
I purchased a pair with rims and all during the Small Engine Show in Portland, IN this past summer (August)for $100....I think that they are Deestone, but not for sure. I like the looks of them and the performance is a lot better than the wide turfs that I was running!! I bought them new off of a vendor up there who dealt exclusively in tires. The rims were painted and new with bushings included, too.

As an educated guess on the price of the Firestones, the price is based upon the demand. If there were a million of these Tri-Ribs being sold annually, the cost of production would drop dramatically. But since the 16 x 6.50 x 8 is a "limited" market, the cost of production is up.
I don't know this for sure, but I am guessing the Firestones are USA made while I suspect the other brand mentioned is foreign made. As for me, when I get ready, I will being buying the Firestones. :American Flag 1:  |
i think i'm gunna buy the firestones too for the 169. they look like a mean tire and high quality
|
What is the Discription of this Tire, Manufacturer, Type, Diameter?
I'm interested in these Tires, but i can't get them here in Europe. mfg Georg |
Georg-
There is a company in Europe (I can't remember which country) that makes 5-rib tires in the 16 - 6.50 - 8 size. Search for "Vredestein V61". I don't own a set of these, but I have heard many good things about them. |
thanks Matt,
i looked for it, Vredestein is a Company from Nederland, theyr have good Tires for Cars and Agricultural, but i'm intresting at 3 Rib Tires. The 3 Ribs in 4.00 x 8 are no Problem, there are much used on Haymachines, tey are working on the Hills, but i don't have the right Rims for it to put on my Cub. My Problem is, if i work with the Plow, the Front Wheels slide away. mfg Georg |
George-
The front wheels will not slide with these tires. The 5 ribs are very deep. I will see if I can find a picture. Edit: http://www.mytractorforum.com/attach...6&d=1208291796 This is a picture of the Vredestein V61 tires in the 16-6.5-8 size that will fit the front wheels of your 782. |

Yes, I am being a smart butt! Matt is FULL of knowledge...lets see if he can pull a dealer out of his hat!? |
Not sure about Canada, but...
Tire Place of Queens Tires Unlimited I'd recommend the second link...they don't have them on their website, but you can call/email for a quote. They do make the larger 18 - 8.50 - 8 size for the supers as well as the 16 - 6.50 - 8 for the standard-frame GTs. After 7 years and ~45 cub cadets, I think it might be time for me to get a new set of front tires for something. I have purchased ONE new tire before this... |
i know this is the wrong tires for this tread but, matt do you know where to find the firestone rear ags? i cant find them anywhere
|
The reason you can't find them is because they are no longer in production.
|
oh... that sucks. what do you recomend for rear ags for my 169
|
I don't have much first-hand experience with ags...the only pair I have in use is a 35-year-old set of Goodyear 10.50s. When I buy a set, they will be Carlisle Tru-Powers or Super Lugs, as I believe they are still made here. I am a bit leery of the Dico, Deestone, Nanco, etc. brands because I don't think the rubber compounds are as good. I once bought a 128 that was stored inside and had Nanco tires on the front...they were so new the little nubs were hardly worn off, but they were so cracked and weathered that they leaked and had to be replaced.

|
tiresunlimited is cheaper...$32.58 each, as opposed to $45 each from Miller.
