John & Ben

It goes on Craig’s list tomorrow. I want to get a few pics of it outside in the Sun.

I like it. well done sir...

drglinski 06-18-2012 10:43 PM

Awesome! Glad someone saved another 147. Did the electric lift not work when you got it?

Sam Mac 06-18-2012 10:55 PM

It was missing the electric motor so I used the lift/rockshaft from a 71 that I have. The 71 is not going to be used as a mower so I didn't need it anyway.

Awesome job on the 147, Sam!

Nice rebuild Sam.

I have a 147 bring it over and we'll let them mate,

You can have the pick of the litter.

Van

I'm about done re-habing Old Cubs, at least for a while. Time to thin the heard.

Just sold the 147 to a guy from TN. It's replacing a 2009 Husky LGT 2554. Gotta love it that a 40+ year old Cub out lives a 2 year old Big Box store POS.:biggrin2:

Congrats on the sale Sam!

Better then new

Really nice job, that 147 looks better then new. The new owner should have a cub to last another 40yrs.

Guys thanks for all the compliments. I think he will be happy with it. I just feel bad for him with the problems he’s had with his Husky. Just proves that the old Cubs were built to last. :beerchug:

147

Wow, amazing what a coat of paint does to that old yeller, looks like just out of the showroom. New home, new life, new tractor, hope it does him real good. Mike

Pic of the 2009 Husky LGT2554 that was replaced by a 1969 Cub 147. :biggrin2:

So that's what a POS Husky looks like. I always shield my eyes from such things.

Hey now, I love my Husky GT2654 for a myriad of duties...I bought mine second hand 6 years ago and she runs and pulls like a champ...at least a big box champ, I'd pit it against any green machine anyday..However my cub is most definately my favorite and will work compete circles around the big orange machine..
That 147 is one sharp looking machine though, hope when I get the 126 redone it looks half as good..

TheSaturnV 06-23-2012 11:16 PM

Yeah, you have to watch "dissing" the cheapies, someone reading the thread just may have one. I'm pretty hard on the Lowes Depot stuff myself, but have to say that I've gotten 5 years of dependable use out of a Troy Built "Gardenway" MTD rider/mower and it still runs and cuts like a champ. I was even the second owner!

Sam,
How many hours did you invest in the paint job? Thanks

All together probably 8 hours. That was a rattle can paint job. 3 cans of Valspar transport yellow and 1 can of IH white.
