:Welcome2: Glad to have you! Nice cubs, you have there.

Many Thanks

Thanks lads for the welcome , the babies are a HDS2155 and the new toy a GT2550 , we are a little behind you in model allocation.
Cub/Yardman/MTD are quite popular in Oz , the Chinese JD's are popular till they break.
We have a few local manufacturers Cox , Greenfield etc tough as nails but they only have up to about a 36" cut (I think) not wide enough for my needs

OZ, welcome to the forum Mate! I have a good friend who lives in Sydney.
How did you become a fan of Cub Cadets?
Van

Ozcub 04-14-2012 12:46 AM

Mate , we moved from Sydney suburbs out to rural residential and the deal with my wife was a ride on mower.
Originally narrowed my choice to a Cub , Toro or a Kubota all had the same features and strengths but the Cub won out on price , also the Toro dealer was a dipstick (ha ha)
On to my second Cub , do all my own maintenance and , touch wood , no problems
What part of Sydney does your friend reside , in land area it is a massive place , we all want our 1/4 acre

Cub-N-It 04-14-2012 08:54 AM

My friend lives on Carter Street, In Callaway. Are you familiar with that area? He is a Harley Davidson motorcycle rider like myself. That is how we met years ago.
I am also a fan of WheelHorse lawn and garden tractors. I have two of those. A 417-A and a 312-8, also a Cub Cadet 1650. Do you have any of the Wheel Horse brand where you live?

welcome to OCC. I have a mate that lives in Ambarvale 2560 NSW Australia
he was over last Aug for 3 weeks and he rings me up about evey week on skype

Ozcub 04-15-2012 07:54 PM

Hi Cub n It , no mate never heard of Callaway is it in the Sydney region ?
Toro/Wheelhorse are available over here , no major dealers around my area.

Hi 4speed , Ambarvale yep know the area about 40 km/25miles north of me , thats a residential area , where I am is rural residential 5 or 10 acre blocks

Cub-N-It 04-15-2012 11:00 PM

Yes, actually it is in Sydney. Near one of the Masonic Lodges in Sydney.
If you are a fan of the old Lawn and Garden Tractors then check out the Wheel Horses. They are built very well, use Kohler engines, are available with manual or hydo transmissions, are adaptable to many types of implements, and like International Harvester Cub Cadets, are no longer manufactured. They are very simple to work on. You can take one almost completely apart with a 1/2" and 9/16 wrench and socket and pliers.
Its sad that Lawn and Garden Tractors are no longer made like that. The good thing is, there are still plenty of the old ones around, and parts are readily available for them here in the U. S.

Mate I thought I knew Sydney like the back of my hand but Callaway has me stumped and perplexed ?

Hi Cub n it , yep know that place , north of the Harbour bridge , got rellies living in Cammeray
I am about 70/ 80 miles Sth West of there , in the Highlands

Cub-N-It 04-17-2012 08:42 PM

Oz, it can be a small world we live in. :)
Hey, is it easy and affordable to buy parts for your Cub Cadets where you live?

Ozcub 04-18-2012 01:10 AM

Hi
Parts are a bit expensive for the Cubs we only have the GT and LT not the larger ones I see on here.
Got a bunch of prices from Mowtown USA brilliant but they wanted to send them with DHL that killed the price , maybe 2nd class postage would have been a lot cheaper
example blades $AUD49.95 here , Mowtown $US14.00 or $AUD13.50 Freight was about $US85.00
I have looked around a fair bit and found parts that are non genuine but comparable quality i.e. Toyota oil filter fits Kohler engine "Z418" etc also air filters and precleaners that fit Briggs and Strattons also fit Kohler and are a bit cheaper.
Spent 6 months working in local mower shop that taught me enough to get myself into trouble and on most occasion back out again
Regards

Cub-N-It 04-18-2012 10:02 PM

Yes, I know about shipping to Sydney. It cost me 25 US Dollars to mail two t-shirts to my friend Andy. I only paid 30 Dollars for the shirts!
I also sent you a reply to your PM.
Van

Ozcub 04-29-2012 11:53 PM

Went rabbit hunting as a kid also a bit of fishing but sorry do not have pics , as for the tropical north , plenty of fishing up there , Marlin , Barramundi etc
As for gardening thats my wifes specialty , I just mow over anything that is planted closer than 50" as that is the width of the deck
With out wanting to sound like a Travel agent Australia has it all , and we look around the world and see what is going on and thank God we are Aussies.
If you ever want to find an Aussie in a crowd just shout "oi oi oi" , you will get an answer
If any one has questions about Australia fire away and I will do my best to answer

Same here.

Ozcub 05-14-2012 08:31 PM

They actually make 2 Amarok and Saveiro.
We only get Amarok crew cab but standard cab will be available in July , like I said they make any other truck in that class look very second hand.
