found my water problem. I took the bolts out. and it fell off. the gasket wasnt stuck to either side at all. you can see the rust from the water getting in.
http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6988.jpg I saw no issues here other then the to bolts were loose. http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6985.jpg how does the brake come out? should it just slide out? http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6984.jpg disc has some ware on it http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6986.jpg pic of all the bits after they all came out of the parts washer. http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6987.jpg |
Doug your off to a great start!
|
You've been busy, Doug! Keep up the good work.

I want to get it back in roller before I work on the tin's . today I took the 8x12 rims off the 125 and saw they had tubes in them. one rim had a bad patch job on it , due to rust. I ground out the brass welds and re-welded the hole shut. its right at the valve stem so I'll need to drill a new hole.
I want the 8.5's on the 582 for plowing. the 10.5" I think are too wide for a 10 plow. http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...0314121524.jpg I ues a brass hammer as a backer to fill the hole with weld. weld wont stick to brass. http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...0314121536.jpg http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...0314121552.jpg http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...0314121625.jpg fronts http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...0314121846.jpg |
also got this set of tred plates from a 145 ( maybe? ) its a hydro. guys is parting out. the tins on it look really good.
I'll need to cut a little on one of them and add a bolt hole. but they should work. http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6995.jpg another part ready to go back on http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_6996.jpg |
Thanks for the update pics, Doug.

How I took the stearing wheel off
I took the stearing column off , took off the end cap and bearings. set it on 2 blocks of wood. then took the nut loose (keeping a full nut), took a 3/4" socket 1/2" drive extension bar. put the socket on backwards and gave it a smack. it came off on the 3rd blow. had it socking in PB blaster for 2 days too.

Your rims look nice!

|
Anytime Doug! Your 582 is coming along nicely!

I used the
Martin Seynour paint on my original, came out shiny with the hardener in it.What paint did you use for the red? |
I used the TSC paint on the frame but the tins will be Martin S 2 stage. that way I can color sand it and polish it to a mirror shine.
IH red Martin Senour #99-4115-n then cross that # to the base/clear. almost 50 a qt. matin clear is junk . no UV protection. so I'll use ppg concept clear. I'll also clear over the frame. ( yes clear will go over enamel if hardener was used in it. ) TSC paint isnt UV frendly either. so I'll clear it too to keep it from sun fade. it'll be a $$$ paint job. but it'll be the last one it'll ever need. and being a solid color , chips and scratches will be an easy fix to blend |
got a few more bits painted today.

thanks guys, I love doing this kind of work. its just a test for me to see how picky I can be on it.
to brake up all the red , I painted the stearing rods trim black. did the clutch rod the same, but painted the spring olive drab like most all springs and clips that come from the factory. and got the decal on the tunnel cover. I added the call out to the top. http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_7012.jpghttp://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_7013.jpg http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/100_7011.jpg |
