John's Junk continued....

Continuing a tradition of collecting strays nobody else with any sense would want, I'll go pick up this hacked up 100 tomorrow. You GOTTA love that generator mount! Well... it was very ....cheap! :-) Anyone understand the hole in the tin on the side of the engine? |
That hole was for the air intank on AQS engines in quiteline cubs.
|
The hole in the engine tin tell me the flywheel cover is from a Quiet Line engine.
|
Some nice goodies on there
|
I see two generators, what's up with that?
My 72 had one mounted like that, prolly turns clockwise... Nice grab from the scrapper. |
Thats interesting....
Never saw a generator like that. Thats true ethiopian engineering as they say.
Good luck with it, they are truly fun to work on. Dave in SW Missouri |
There's definitely been some shadetree work on this thing.
I'm a sucker for a mutt...which this certainly is! Apparently there's a deck with it too. Will put some pix up tomorrow when I get it home. Did I mention it was cheap? :-) |
Great for you John, I would have done the same as you did! :High5:

Well....
Even for ME, this looks more like parts than a project. Got it home off the trailer and under cover (probably for the first time in decades) by myself. The engine looks decent, not locked up, but I don't see where any ID plate or SN is. has the 3 point hitch and the fenders are ok. Trans shifts smoothly (though the thing doesn't run of course.
Came with a deck, and hangers of some vintage... hooo what a mess. Any ways to ID the engine , since we know it's a QL vintage? John the Junkman PS: It WAS fun to get on the 123 and use it as a towtruck... |
Upon further analysis of the photos presented as exhibit a,b,and c
Photo A shows that the frame has been modified to fit said engine,QL Photo b shows the suspected 3 point hitch, roundy fenders.Missing the correct starter button, which leads me to a QL Photo c shows frame has been cut and the dipstick comes out the side of the block like a QL.Hence the funny s/g mounting.,engine may be a 14 or 16 hp. In the broader scale of things Cub Cadet, you should part it out,or find a umolested frame and move everything over to it.Then find the correct motor, wiring, and s/g. |
I'm thinking you're right. There's not much good on this other than a lot of parts. The engine is probably good... can feel compression and it turns freely.
Dunno how to determine 14 of 16 hp, but it IS a big engine, that's for sure. Frame is notched , which I knew about. The key switch is 3 posn...off, run, start.... Definitely some Budweiser engineering on this one! |

I sent you a PM.:beerchug: |
Yea this looks like something I would drag home too!:)
Slight P.O. mods are expected on these older units. Nice find on lots of good parts. And they can always be brought back with enough time and patience. Regards, Chris |

Wow a 100 with a 16 horse would be a sweet plow tractor

It has 9 bolts. John |
I agree with Nick, that would be very neat!

:biggrin2: If it weren't for bad influences alot of us wouldn't have multiple cubs. But then again, that isn't a bad thing. :beerchug:

I will do some influencing for sure! :biggrin2: |
Oh yeah, we're definitely bad influences! :biggrin2:
