Great addition to Super Cab.
Some may remember the cab I have for my 1872. I mounted it up about a month ago but last night was the 1st real winter weather we've had. So today I mounted the Haban hydro blade and the tire chains.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...012Small-3.jpg These nice cabs have 2 problems. 1st is they are loud! They vibrate and amplify the road and engine noise. So I just wear my hearing protection ear muffs. 2nd problem is frosted and fogged windows. Every breath you take sticks to the glass and freezes when it's in the 20's. When I was Christmas shopping I found a cheap little 12 volt car fan at the local Big Lot's store. Today I finally got around to mounting it up and wiring it. Boy does it work great. I could see my breath just disappear about 6" from the windshield. No frosty glass at all and I was working the tractor for a couple of hours! Woo hoo! It will oscillate or just point it at a single place. That's the way I had it set. Doesn't take up much space and I haven't knocked my head on it either. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...BB003Small.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...BB002Small.jpg Next addition will be a couple of small outside mirrors for backing up with. The cab does limit my view some. |
That is a nice addition to your cab.

Nice looking set up! wish it was in my garage.ha Maybe for your noise problem you could try some rubber undercoating on the inside or insulated mat they use in cars that you peel and stick. My uncle had the same problem on his green one and put some thin insulation board in the roof and where he could and it made a differnce in sound. Now ya need some pics of your super pushing snow there! |
Awesome jealous of that cab set-up! LOL Nice and toasty in there need one myself snow thrower can turn ya into a snowman at times!

I'm glad to see a new post from you Squatch. I love seeing that big Super of yours. :beerchug:

Yeah it sucks when your trying to push snow and the windows fog over! I help clear the parking lot at work and they have one of those ugly (green things ) that I use. Good idea on the fan! I saw somewhere either JcW or someplace had a 12 volt fan that plugged into the cigarette lighter, could wire one of those in to give some warmth and help with the windows?? Just a thought! Good looking set up you have there!

Thanks folks, Haven't posted much lately because everything is working well for a change. After fighting it for months the tractor is doing what it's supposed to at the moment.
The fan is one of those cigarette lighter deals. I cut off the light plug and hooked it up to the fused leads from the battery for the wiper. It's made to clamp on or bolt. I just pop-riveted it to the roof. I think I only paid about $6 for it. I used it again today and same deal. No fan frosty windows in minutes. Fan on no problem. No reall snow with this mess just a couple of inches and freezing rain ice on it. So I was just mainly scraping ice off the road. For anyone that hasn't seen one in person the Haban blade is the real deal! Heavy son of a biscuit and can get down and scrape some ice. Times like these make me remember what a work horse the Supers really are. If we get any real snow this year I'll try to get Mama Squatch to take some pics! |
Looks great! nice to see you got everything looking and running so well.
