Value of IH 982

What about would the value of this 982 be? Its in very nice shape, dash is good, runs good, has the onan. hydro works good too,has the aluminum axle tubes, the deck is nice as well. Plus it has a very large haban blade,54"? no 3 point or rear pto. I know very little about the supers:bash2:, so help me out here.

It looks to be in great shape. The Haban blade is probably worth between $300 and $400 dollars. I would say the 982 and deck without rear lift or PTO is worth between $2100 and $2500. Now you have to remember location has a lot to do with prices and if they go for a higher or lower price. They are quite rare around here and would pull a good price here. What are they asking for it?

These are just my estimates. I may be thinking a bit high compared to someone else here.

cub123 01-05-2012 06:19 PM

Thanks DX3, from what you've said and looking at it myself its looking like a pretty good deal, if things work out I might end up with a red super in the shed!

_DX3_ 01-05-2012 06:57 PM

I hope it works out for you, but beware, Red fever is as bad if not worse then yellow fever. :biggrin2:

Mountain Heritage 01-05-2012 07:24 PM

I'd say around $2500 - $2600 for all three. :HeadScratch: I agree with DX3, that blade alone is worth a fair bit if it isn't all bent up. Looks like it has lack axles, like you mentioned aluminum rear so its newer. But it does have turning brakes so that should add about $100.00 to the price if they work. :bigthink: Tin work is in decent shape by the looks of it and you say the dash is not all cracked up. Heck, it HAS side panels! That's a bonus right there - most of the ones I have seen are almost ALWAYS missing the side panels and/or the seat! Your prospective tractor has BOTH! :beer2:

BUY IT UP!!

For me it would have to be less than 2000. I figure a gas super is worth 1500 w/deck and the haban is worth 400-500.

+1

MH-

I see a red rearend, so that's IH-built most likely. All 82 series tractors have aluminum axle tubes.

WOW $2000.00 - $2500.00 i wounder what my powder coated roller 982 is worth ? & all i want is a 54" haban plow or snow blower to fit a 982 :bigthink:

The blade is in great shape, looks like it was used very little, maybe to move a little snow. The rearend is not full aluminum, just the tubes. Think I'm gonna go work out a deal tomorrow. :beerchug:

cub123 01-05-2012 09:55 PM

So do you think 2000 would be decent if he won't come down any more? Don't see supers in this area very often.

_DX3_ 01-05-2012 10:12 PM

I'm tempted to come get it if you don't... :biggrin2: Grab it.

cub123 01-06-2012 06:07 PM

:Woo: Well I worked out a deal on it! Got a new set of chains too! Also got a mess of the IH blue ribbon service manuals, 982 chassis, onan, kohler and Briggs service manuals, and the usual owners. The original owner was a dealer and took great care of it, the deck looks like it only has a few hours on it! Pics to come..........

Way to go!

Yeah, I kinda like the red :biggrin2: Oh, forgot to add, the guy who was selling it for the owner has a cub he said he would sell too, so looks like tomorrow were gonna have another in the shed:beerchug:

ACecil 01-06-2012 10:54 PM

Congrats on the 982, Ben! Will it be a plow day tractor? :beerchug:

cub1450 01-06-2012 11:49 PM

Come on. :WWP:

Iluvtruks0 01-06-2012 11:58 PM

Yeah Ben, I think this should be at the plow day in SC!!!

Oak 01-07-2012 10:07 AM

Ben, you guys are gonna have to bring a bigger trailer to Vince's plow day with all the tractors you have been buying up. Great deal on the 982. Nothing sounds like those duals on a Onan under load. What's your Ser#? Mine ends 6869xx, built January 1981.

Yeah I think we will, my brother might come this year too, I'll get some pics and check out the ser# this afternoon.

cub123 01-08-2012 06:39 PM

Ok here they are. Oak , mine ends 6802xx. Was made Oct. 1980. I might wax it and enter it for picture of the week when I get a sunny day :biggrin2: I took the group photo to show anyone who has never had the chance to see a super just how much bigger it is . Sorry, it's a little muddy and dusty in the pic . http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1326063522.jpg

cub123 01-08-2012 06:56 PM

Thanks guys, I wanted to get the whole fleet out, but it was a lot of walking back and forth from the shed :biggrin2:

jbrewer 01-08-2012 07:20 PM

Looks fantastic...you've got some great rolling stock. Thanks for taking the time to upload the pix!

Ben your way to young to have that problem!:biggrin2:

Mountain Heritage 01-08-2012 07:41 PM

Great group shot! Nice addition to the fleet! That blade is as sweet as the tractor. Say, what's up with the fence in the back ground? You have issues with deer?

Thanks! Forgot to get pics of the deck, it's real nice too, even has new blades! The fence is to keep the deer out of our garden, otherwise we have no garden and fat deer, though it's not a bad thing come hunting season, lol:biggrin2:

cub123 01-08-2012 07:59 PM

Say, any of you guys have a pic of the blade angle handle setup? Mine is missing..... Looks like it should have a lever on the handle to release it too.

Cubcrazy 01-08-2012 09:39 PM

Nice looking 982 and fleet!
