123 Restoration Pics

This is my 123 that I have been restoring. This is my first true Cub Cadet restoration. It took me about 1 1/2 years to complete as I was finishing up college, but I can just about say it is done. Got the new skins mounted on the rims saturday and paraded it around the yard Sunday. That was one fun ride around the yard!:biggrin2:

That's one sweet 123! All of your hard worked paid off big time! Got a before pic?

The 1st or 3rd pic would be my submission for POTW! Well if I was you they would be.:biggrin2:

Yes I do have a before pic. I will try to get them on my flash drive tonight.

I hope to take some more pictures in some different lighting to really do it justice. It looks so much better in person!

You did an excellent job on the restoration with great attention to detail.

The classic lines of the model 123 give the tractor a lot of character.

Awesome:beerchug:

Awesome 123!!! Certainly a historic mark for IH cubs to carry the honor as the first hydrostat and you have a superb one there. I'll bet you smiled during the whole ride around the yard!!

I don't have one of those in the garage but that tractor would find a special spot! Very clean detailed restoration.

Chris

I think that would be a great idea if you loaded it up and brought it to NC so I could see it in person!:biggrin2:

Ok, here is a picture of the tractor as I got it, as well as a few pictures of some of the sheet metal along the way.

ACecil 10-18-2011 05:04 PM

It didn't look bad at all. Great pics. :beerchug:

It was in a lot worse shape than what the picture shows. The crossmember for the front axle was almost completely busted out and had been welded and busted again. The battery box had been peeled open for a bigger battery, it had a big hole cut in the top of the tunnel, and the motor was a mess. It had some home made shim that was about 3/16" thick under the head, and it had little shims cut out of pepsi cans shimming the rod cap out for some reason. I will try to find a picture of the drive shaft that was in it. The PO had taken nuts and woodscrews and made some sort of u-joint that attached to the flywheel. It was quite an interesting piece. I will try to get that picture up.
