1541 plow machine (diesel catcher)

1 Attachment(s)
Went to mountians of PA, picked up a 1541 that had set out alot. rusty for age but hydro was stout and so was (18hp) engine. seat was a mess also!
I think it will make a good plow machine! The plan is to remove rear gas tank,
clearence for 27-12-12 mud hogs, home made lift from wide frame rock shaft, frame draw plate stock,nf drag link modified. round fenders from cub 73,or wheel horse heres the beginning shot, soon to be heard by those diesel boys!!! LOL:BB&YS:

Plan stage is over now. Is plan more than a dream? Photo 1: shows 830 gas tank/battery mod. , lower left shows lift rod for rear sleve hitch.
photo:2 shows modified stock frame hitch plate, need to drill 5/16 holes, wf rock shaft with brake brackets from 782.
photo: 3 shows round fenders fit like glove no mods needed, 2 inch clearence between frame & fender, 1 inch clearence above brake rods.

Looks like going to fly ok!!!:beerchug::American Flag 1:

jbollis 08-29-2011 02:10 PM

I have always wanted to put a set of round fenders on an 82 series. It is going to look great.

ACecil 08-29-2011 02:41 PM

Great pics, Earl! That's going to be one tough plowing machine! :beerchug:

Cubcrazy 08-29-2011 03:29 PM

Iluvtruks0 08-29-2011 08:01 PM

Well i can probably match you on the strong beer drinking, but ive never lived in Germany and ate lots of pig parts. LOL All this junk talking im doing is probably a sure sign for something to happen to me. Im sure next plow day, Ill have a flat tire or my plow will come un-hitched from the tractor. Now that would be worth a picture!!

Looks like going to fly ok!!!:beerchug::American Flag 1:

During developement of a new product, U do a lot of engineering changes as the new machine evolves, first pictures showed a wide butt white seat,(gone)! To off set all the rear weight for traction, one must balance the machine to keep front end on the ground . I am adding; a cow catcher, 40lb car battery, 5lb diamond plate, batt. case with two 10 lb suitcase wieghts, plus picture 3 shows cub zt 40 lb wieght. the angle the machine sets at has been altered, it now runs down hill all the time their by saving gas! ( LOL), but it does affect the weight distribution a little. The deisel boys take note that, the dreaded secret aditive bottles are shown, (empty) for now!!!

esarvey 09-02-2011 08:27 PM

Gains in ground clearence

The biggest reasons I am making these mods to 1541 are; 1: brother in-law didn't like my plow machine, (124). said it was like riding buckin bronk, and 2:needed way more ground clerance, plus we had to run in first gear pulling a 12" brinley!

ok the 1541 has 27" tall mud hogs, giving 50% more ground clerance!
1541 has 50% more horsepower than the 124, and is hydro lift! I found the tires then built the machine around the tall ones!!! crazy yes!!!:bigthink:

ACecil 09-03-2011 12:10 AM

Looking good, Earl! :beerchug:

Methos 09-03-2011 02:58 AM

Well the finished product, has morfed to this! John was upset that it was not a smoker. could we add a stack at least? Also the rubber foot pads on the cub he used,(782) were slippery. so the foot rest on the pure plow 1541 are off a 123, non skid! and I completed the rear adpt. plate, sleve hitch lift! All I have left is to add wheel weights/brake pads!!!:Announce:

Iluvtruks0 09-20-2011 08:38 PM

Looking good Earl. Cant wait to see it in action!

Methos 09-20-2011 10:37 PM

Look good Earl! He better be happy with that! Have you sent him the bill for it yet?

ACecil 09-20-2011 11:37 PM

Looks sharp, Earl! Looking forward to seeing it at plow day! :beerchug:

Oak 09-22-2011 06:37 PM

Looks wild Earl. Make sure the engine dosn't overheat from the battery box choking off the airflow. See ya in Pickens SC next spring!

diesel catcher lurks

Lurking in the shed outback is a ominous figure, part beast, part Machine! It's slighty drooling, in the prospect that an unsuspecting plow might wander to close, so it can pounce!!! It knows time is running out only three weeks till plow day, it must score a brinley soon!!!:popcorn:

I cant quite tell if that Brinly plow is something you need or not, but if you do need one, I know a guy who has one for sale.

Earl

Man are you going to have something to run against the diesel guys! You may end up being the Zero in their sites!

Im going to try and put that piece on Dannys tractor you sent me. I got the hitch just about on the super, and that money pit is done and ready to plow, I hope :Unknown: The larger tires will make it fly thats for sure!
