Cub Wheel Weight For Sale----Not

3 Attachment(s)
Just got a 126 last night and unloaded too late for pictures. When I snapped some today, I noticed an interesting PO mod on it....a front wheel weight. Granted, last night this cub was going 60 mph on the highway, but it was on my trailer when it was moving that fast. I don't think this front wheel weight is going to enhance performance... Has anyone else seen this type of mod before? BTW: I picked up my 126 with a 38" deck and wheel weights, IH windbreaker and 42" snow plow in good shape.

Congrats on your nice 126! :beerchug:

Cool, I listed that one on the craigslist deals section here on OCC. That was a killer deal @ $225. Glad to see one of our own got it!

Well then, CC1650Dave....:Thanks::Thanks::Thanks::Thanks: ....I appreciate it!!! It was a great deal and the fellow was a very nice man to do business with. It belonged to the school corporation that he recently became employed with and they bought it new back in the '70's. I got it to fire today, but it seems like fuel is not getting to the engine. Another project to work on!! Thanks again for the lead.

You're welcome! I always wonder if anyone here has scored any of the deals I link to. I keep pretty up-to-date on MI, IN, OH, and IL Cubs on CL.

I don't believe i ever have seen wheel weights on a tractor before :HeadScratch:
And thats a big weight to boot.
You never know what these Cubs have been through before you get them :biggrin2:
Nice find on the 126, Cub Cadet 123 :beerchug:

Yamaguy 08-28-2011 09:01 AM

NIce find!! That was a great price!!

Methos 08-28-2011 09:47 AM

Great score for a great price! That tire really had to be out of round to bug them to put that huge weight on it.:biggrin2:

Congrats on the 126, Cub Cadet 123! :beerchug:

Nice tractor! I'll bet you don't feel any shimmy in the steering while you mow the yard! :biggrin2:

LarryW 08-28-2011 11:28 AM

Weird, I wonder if someone had that rim/tire on a trailer once? But then who balances trailer tires? Nice find though!

Matt G. 08-28-2011 11:50 AM

Putting that on a trailer would be pretty catastrophic, as neither the tire, nor the wheel, nor the bearings are for high-speed applications.

I'd say that's just another idiotic PO mod and nothing more.

Update: Tonight, I got it fired up for the first time in 7 yrs (the guy I bought it off of says that it has been parked for 7 yrs because they went out one day and it wouldn't turn over so they replaced it......WOW!). I just replaced the gas tank, plug, and carb and it fired right up. Well, I decided to mow with it tonight and I was very impressed by the performance it gave to my yard!! I've never mowed with a gear drive (I've plowed snow and dirt with them, but never mowed) since I have had cubs and I wasn't for sure how I would like it, but come to find out....it was a blast!!! I'm very pleased with this purchase and can't wait to get the cab on it.

I greased the fittings before I ran it, but the deck would not receive any grease through the zerks. Does anyone know why they wouldn't? Thanks in advance for your kind comments!

I was just at Harbor Freight the other day and saw a tool for opening up stuck zerks. Maybe something like this would help?

Cub Cadet 123 08-28-2011 09:29 PM

Thanks Dave!!! I didn't even know such a tool even existed.:bigthink:

You posted this cub for me and now you give me a link to a really neat tool for fixing it up.......If this continues, I may send you that front cub cadet wheel weight as a free gift!!:beerchug:

I was wondering the same thing. To me it would seem like 1st is too slow and 2nd is too fast. I have a 1200 but never used it for mowing. I like my hydro's for tilling, plowing and mowing. They provide infinite ground speed selections.
Nice find!!

cubcadet100 08-30-2011 03:29 PM

I love mowing with a gear drive especially one with a creeper because sometimes i have to go slow through high grass i can row gears instead of just holding the hydro lever :biggrin2:
