104? Not sure what I got!
Hello I am new to this forum deal, I usually find some rough cub cadets and use them for pulling tractors, but since have gotten a few pretty good ones and thinking about redoing them one is a very straight 71 model, another is a narrow frame with quick tach mounts on front and the smaller square fenders, i believe it to be a 104 that has had a 12hp engine installed. It has creeper and rear pto with an extra box on the back that looks to be some kind of convertor with a 540 style shaft out of it. It has been painted a real ugly green or something so no decals are visible could look up serial numbers but thought try this first to maybe hear from some of you cub experts. Thanks
|
Post your serial number on here, Dwayne (DX3) has a file that he can use to look up what model it is via the serial number, I am just barely smart enough to find out when it was made. Pics would help a lot too!
We don't mind pics of ugly tractors either! |
It sounds like your lucky to find them.
|
i will get some pics up later today and serial numbers thanks alot for the responses

Dwayne will have the best info.
Dwayne's serial number info. is better than any I found in books or other webs. I'm confident he can help if you have the number.
Thanks Dwayne for doing what you do.:beerchug: |
We are always wanting pictures!

Pics are nice we love them! It sounds like a rare cub with the rear pto. The thing i think you is the power box to convert the pto from 515rpm to 540rpm for brush hogs and things that run off the pto.

Looks like you either have a 104 or 124..... with a pto, and a rare reverser!
Here's a picture from another site of the reverser alone.... |
the only number I could find and read was on the back of the rearend it has 234508 on the tag I cannot find the tag on the frame thought maybe is covered by paint unless was removed
|
I was gunna buy that cub off craigslist last year. I still have the print out of it with the guys info lol
|
was it in south dakota, we bought a 430jd and 332jd from the same place

The narrow frames didn't have the serial number on the frame. The tag you found on the rearend is the serial number. Hopefully DWayne will see this soon, and tell us if you have a 104...or 124. :beerchug: |
I think that is the same tractor that I saw sitting on a trailer for sale last year in Dyersville, IA. It was the weekend that the Little G Expo was going on. I stopped and asked about it and the owner said it was just sold.
|
I got it from a guy North of Sioux Falls SD just happened to ask him if he had any cubs when we were picking up the two diesel deeres, my dad used to use and pull cubs now has an obsession with diesel jd garden tractors, but can't fault him for that ha ha. they do run pretty well

Sweet score on the reverser and cub!
|
great score. a rear PTO is hard to come by especially if it has the hub city reverser. do you think you could take a picture of the engagement lever for me? thanks
|
engagement lever and couple other of my cubs

now that I know what i got?
thanks to all that responded to my questions. Hope you like the pictures of my hydro I just bought and the cub lowboy i rescued from death by crusher. It ran less than 4 years ago but needs work, just hated to see it sold for iron as the PO did not want to mess with it. Prob will part with the lowboy as I have enough projects as it is with pulling season in full swing and a just informed by the wife we are expecting our second child. as far as the 104 with the pto I may have to part with it also but will see garage is full of parts and wife wants her parking slot back!!!LOL
|
Nice finds, you did real well!
|
I see your 104 124 has a creeper also
