Great find Cubcrazy, what's the story on them? Were they just laying out in the back forty someplace and your cub eye caught a glimmer of rusty yellow and white, or what?
Like the stories that go with these great finds.

Didn't check the serial numbers yet on the O's or 70 but I will tomorrow evening.

Funny you should ask about the story Todd.
It is a long story but I will try to sum it up.
Heard about this guy through a complete stranger. Gave me the guys number I called him and went and looked.
His dad died back in 2000. The guy told me that his dad lived for these cubs.
He worked all his life and messed with cubs until his health started to deteriate until he decided he had to get rid of his collection. He had 50 cubs at the time and sold all 50 of them to a guy.
His son said it wasn't long after that his dad bought these 4 cubs and dragged them home. They sat outside all this time. We loaded them up this afternoon and as I headed out the drive I watched as his mother watch me leave. Made me feel kinda of sad. Seeing these cubs leave probably reminded her of her husbands passion for these tractors.

Nice haul, and great story. I bet they are just happy to see they are going to another Cub lover.

Nice find! That is kind of a sad story. If I were her or her kid though, I would be happy to know that someone else out there is interested in these old tractors and will do something with them. Sounds like the guy had the yellow fever pretty bad at one point to have 50 cubs!

ACecil 05-22-2011 11:25 PM

Great load of cubs, Mike! You were busy!

IH Nate 05-22-2011 11:48 PM

Way to go Mike, congrats ! Interesting story too. I'll bet that old fellow would have enjoyed the forum. If he had 50, that's a pretty serious collector. It would be interesting to know what that collection contained, and what it sold for.

Well said Josh! His wife might be happy that someone else will enjoy those cubs like her husband did. I've seen something simular before.

Nice find!

zippy1 05-23-2011 08:50 AM

Sometimes you just have to have a story to go with these old tractors. I've got some friends (yeh I got friends) that just don't understand the passion we have for these machines.
One buddy was over yesterday and seen the (new) 122 and he said "brought home some more junk", "how much they pay you to take that one" they just don't understand.:BlahBlah:
Where am I going with this? Sorry!
Nice story though!
