Guys, let me know if you have any questions about the plow day.

I'm finishing up the final fabriation of my home made 2 bottom 3pt disk plow. Been building and tweaking it for the last month. Here is the first test run last weekend. The 2x4 is just temp for testing. That whole wheel mount has been redesigned.

Event is still a go as of today.

Got my disk plow painted up and assembled.

Glenn Peterson plans to come down as well with this newly built Cub 4x4 and 3btm semi mounted plow.

Hope some of you can make it. Stop by and say hi if you do.

Yamaguy 05-19-2011 01:15 AM

I wish my Cub was ready, but I don't have the rear lift installed, or a plow yet. Too bad to because that is only 30 miles from my brothers house in Waukesha, Wi. I will totally make a fall plow day if there is one.

jefferson plow day

mduwe, i'm planning on attending and this being my first plow day, can you give me some info on what to/not to bring to the event. is there an area to swap parts? if so, do i need a table, or is it market style off the back of the truck? do i bring a plate to share? how many tractors are expected to attend?
i'm trying to get my original put back together to bring and show, the 109 is still waiting for two more parts and would love to participate, but.
hopefully all my ?'s will be answered after i get there. do i need to check in with someone? i will pray to the weather gods to hold off the rain. other than that, i don't know nothin. looking forward to meeting with you all. thanks, rick.

mduwe 05-20-2011 09:42 AM

You can definitely bring stuff to sell and either sell it off your truck/trailer or set up a table. Not sure if there will be a designated swap area, probably not if only 1 or 2 guys sell.

Food will be available to buy there, so you would not need to bring anything along unless you wanted to.

Honestly no idea on numbers. This is the first plow day at this location and there is a chance of rain. I expect 10-30 tractors, but it could be more since there arent many other options for plow days this spring in the midwest. Might be weather dependent. The event is still 100% on, and there is a big shed if we need to get out of the rain for a little while if it does rain.

There will be a registration table where you can sign up for door prizes, I would stop there first. Should be in or near the big red shed.

Hope to see you and others there, stop by and say hi.

This one I learned at my first plow day is to bring some hand cleaner it makes dinner time all that better! I also bring 5 gallons of water. I also bring along my craftsman tool case. It's just one of the black cases. A gas can and I fill up every time I stop. Nothing worse then making the wall of shame your first plow day! Bring a wrench to adjust your plow. I drink alot of pepsi so I bring my own drinks.:biggrin2:

ACecil 05-20-2011 01:09 PM

Duke loves his Pepsi! :biggrin2:

mduwe 05-20-2011 11:47 PM

We are here and will plow tomorrow. If its wet we can hang out in the shop.

Duke is absolutely correct on all of the above. Keep the 15/16 wrench on the tractor as you never know when you might need to make a small tweaking adjustment or you might be able to loan it to a friend in need. Dont know what machine you are plowing with, but a spare drive shaft bolt would be handy also incase one shears off. A portable (FULL) air tank. Spare oil, if you have never worked your cub this hard before, you might not know if it consumes any oil, and believe me, you will be working it!!

Duke is also right about the gas. You dont want to end up like Esarvey on here!

Also, since its your first pd, find a nice feller who has done this a time or 2 and simply ask for some help if you are a bit lost or confused. Makes the rest of the day a bit nicer to be going along and doing the right thing. Also makes for a new friend. :beerchug:

Have fun and dont forget to charge your camera!!!!!

Also Bob (the guy in the yellow shirt) ran out of gas at the NC plow day and was more then happy help Earl out with his refill in the field! I hear it's terrible feeling I hope to take their word for it!

And for the record it's terrible feeling being pulled out by a full size JD not once but twice! But at the end of the day plow days are alot of fun!

Just wanted to post this link to the Deere forum. Has a bigger thread on this plowday. As you scroll down just a bit, you can see one heck of an awesome red machine. Check it out. Worth the look.

Jefferson Plow Day

first i would like to thank mike and josh for having this event. it was my first allbeit without my tractor. i had a great time meeting with you all. there was a good handfull of ih equipment, but mostly the green machines were in attendance. showers dotted the day but didn't stop these diehards from having a little fun. i noticed several guys commenting on the rocks that were buried throughout the field, and only a few had problems it seemed to make it up the hill on the far end of the field. some clay perhaps with the couple showers proved to be a challenge. great setup with the shed for serving lunch and dodging the rain, and the wives did a great job setting that up. i can't wait to get my tractors set up so i can attend and participate for the next one.
here are a few pics from the event. i don't remember everyones name, but one did stand out and that was glenn peterson and his 4x4. an awesome homemade machine that seemed to float effortlessly over the field.

Thank you for the pics! That 4x4 is impressive! Looks like a good turn out how many showed up? It's ok that the off topic's were there as well it makes the cubs look better.:biggrin2:

Once again thank you for the pics!

ricks 05-23-2011 11:08 PM

there were off topic tractors there too? i miss everything. the turnout was probably a couple dozen or so. i stayed focused on the cubs most of the time. on another subject, i brought with an almost complete parts tractor. i'm a bit timid so, being my first time i didn't want to overstep my welcome and look like a traveling salesman. so i kept the truck lid closed, but asked kindly if anyone was interested. i'm not sure how things were done at these here tractor events. no takers.
