My first time out on the 125
4 Attachment(s)
Well I made my maiden run Sunday on the 125, it didn't go as good as I wanted, we had a few gliches along the way. But it was some nice seat time anyway. Felt good, well most of it:bigthink:

nice pics of it in action! What went wrong though?

It seemed like there was no power when I got in the thicker grass, almost like the gov. wasn't working right, or at all. Then it would snub out and I couldn't get it running again until it cooled down.
The first time it stopped the wife pulled me back to the shop so I could get off with her tractor (huskvarna) that sucked. It was like vacume locked, I cracked the gas line and it fired up, and I went back at it, and it happend again. Checked the gas cap and it was working fine, little damp at the hole so I'm thinking it's not holding vacume in the tank, or am I going in the wrong direction? I have no idea how to check the gov. from the seat while putting a load on it to see if it's working or not. Sitting next to it while running and turning o the mower it seems to work. I checked it's adjustment and it seems fine:bigthink: Any idea? or am I hopeless? |
my 127 used to die once it got good and warm, I would have to wait till it cooled down. I ended up changing the condenser and coil and it's been all good since.

This one seems to like oil also, mind you. I picked it out of a barn after sitting for who knows for how many years. And I know nothing about this tractors history, it may have been abused in it's long life but I'm thinking I will get to know it personally, internally come winter:bash2: |
Nice 125 Todd!

To check the gov, watch the throttle shaft, it should open when you get it in a load. The throttle has to be very free for it to work correctly. I have learned these things the hard way. Someone here that has much better knowledge will give some expert advice, this is just what I had. Great looking place you have!! Was 89 here yesterday and I was cutting some wood, wish I needed a jacket instead. |

You might also check the static timing per Matt's instructions.

Todd some great suggestions given already. I'm sure you'll have it figured out in no time. The engine service manual is in the tech section of the site for download. It has the govenor info there.
Evan loves his 125! It's been a great tractor and for a tractor that I was going to sell to a buddy of mine it's been great owning it! I work the day lights out of it and Evan gets 95% of his seat time in it and I don't see us parting with it now. Great landscaping too! Looks a bit chilly out. |
Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'll give them a try when I get a little time over the weekend.
Yeh Duke, it was around 55 on Sun. and that's still to cold for me. Give me the 70's, then I'm happy:biggrin2: I got a guy coming from Iowa Fri. to pick up 100 pt.2 I had to let it go to make room. I think I'm bringing home a 122. Good chance anyway. I haven't even seen it yet, but it sure sounds good anyway. But one had to go first. |
Nice pics of you and the 125, Todd! :beerchug:

That 125 cuts nice! So, do you like hydros, or gear drives better? Not counting getting on/ off the thing.

But I'm sure you could ask 10 people and get a 50- 50 split on the answer, but I really do like my 100 with the creeper. Feels like you got all the stump pulling grunt you'll ever need. As long as you can get it to hook up anyway. |
Looks good Todd, looks to be leaving a nice cut pattern.

I love the sound the hydro makes, it's music to my ears.
