New Tractor.. 1961 Original!
Just picked up this very early original. Its been hacked at i can tell... Came with a freely moving deck and a plow that needs completely rewelded and needs a new cutting blade. Its got non original fenders and has a k141 instead of a k161. It has spark and had no compression when i got it but it was just a stuck valve. So it should have its compression back. It is serial number 841. Tell me some info if any of you can like about the engine and fenders.. Thanks

congrats on the super early O! awesome find. to my knowledge they never came with a k141. I would just find a k161 to put in it.

Very early 3 digit wow. Great score. Does it still have early collared spindles, early seat with no drain, etc?

I'm pretty sure on this.... Hopefully Lew can back this up.... A 141 is an early 161. I don't know if they ever built them at the same time.
I do know this for sure: There was a bore change during the life of the 7hp motor. They went to a larger bore. Everything else stayed the same. The old motor can be bored out to the new bore size with no problems. And it's a lot different, so no matter how bad the block is it should clean up. The pistons/rings and cylinder parts aren't available for the 141 anymore anyway, so a rebore is all you can do. Fenders look homemade/modified. Is it an electric start? Congrats on the very.... VERY early "O"!! :WWP::WWP::WWP: |
Thanks for the info guys. I'll get more pics in a little bit

A 141 is an early 7 hp engine, it had a 2.785" bore and a 2.50" stroke as opposed to the later 161's that had a 2.938" bore and a 2.50" stroke.
If I am not mistaken there are no pistons and rings available to rebuild a 141, however the good news is that the block can be bored for a 161 piston and those parts ARE still available. I personally do not know when they changed from the 141 to the 161 so I can't answer about if this engine could be original to the tractor, but I'm guessing it was. Nice find! |
Great find on the early O:beerchug:
As mentioned earlier, :WWP: |
Nice find on the 3 digit.
As far as I know they all were k161 7 hp. That was in the sales literature. In the book I have a k141 is 6 1/4 hp. maybe had a smaller carb on it. |
