In one of my earlier post I talked about wanting to save the original bolts that came off the tractor. I was really impressed that most were stamped with the IH logo. So after some research I built a zinc plating tank. It works really well. Through trial and error I got the process down. Its quite easy, just time consuming. The bolts have to be de-rusted, I did this soaking them in vinegar, then wire brushing them on a bench grinder. And before putting in the tank a good cleaning with a degreaser. A couple of pics to show it happened.

After vinegar soak.

I didn't take a pic after wire brushing, I forgot :bash2:

But here they after plating, I'm pleased.

Over the last couple of weeks been able to get most every thing cleaned and primed, pics soon, still a little sanding to do yet. Still having some trouble standing and walking very much but i'm getting there.

Those came out really good, some would say why? but where can you find a 1 1/4" or 2 1/8" bolt nowadays ?

Thanks Todd, time in the zinc bath depended on the size of the bolt. I set it up where I could hang 3 or 4 at a time, then I would keep a close watch on them when the color seamed right I would take them out. The larger ones would take more time than the smaller ones. It was mostly trial and error until I got the voltage and amps to where it produced the best results.

Yeah I know some would say why? I just wanted to see if I could do it, and I want to use as much original as I can.
