Kwlfinger:

That is a good looking IH Cub Cadet.

I've been ask this question several times and the answer I usually give this answer.....what the buyer is willing to pay for an item and what the seller is willing to sell an item for.

I'm not trying to be rude or mean. I've been ask what the value of an IH Cub Cadet. Things I look for is the condition of the paint and is the Cub Cadet the correct color.

Next thing I look at is serial number. Low 3 (any 3) digit number is worth more than a five digit serial number.

Does the IH Cub Cadet have the correct engine in it? Does it have a recoil start? Is the engine recently been rebuilt? Did they use Kohler parts if the engine was rebuilt?

Does the IH Cub Cadet have a Danco UD6 creeper or a M&W over/under drive system?

What kind of options does the Cub Cadet have? The early IH Cub Cadet Originals had rear fenders, front PTO, rear PTO, hydraulic system, lights and rear 3 point hitch.

Another item I look at are the tires. The only tires that came on an Original were 6-12 (rear) and 4.80X4.0-8 (front).

Rear fenders add to the value.

I realize the IH Cub Cadet Original that this topic is about doesn't have some of these options.

A little about me....
Been around IH Cub Cadets for 50 years. I've been a member of an International Harvester Collectors Tech Committee for 10 years. I've done seminars at IH Collectors Winter Conventions and Red Power Round Ups on IH Cub Cadets. I've been ask to do appraisals in the past. I usually give what the buyer and seller agree on. Some say I'm an expert-I'm still learning.

If I was interested I would be willing to pay $800 to $500 for this IH Cub Cadet (depending if the motor was rebuilt and what parts were used if the engine was rebuilt). I'm not trying to insult anyone......That is the going price for a Cub Cadet Original in my area. You can add $400 to $500 if the Original had a hydraulic system. Rear 3 point hitch adds $100 to $125. Headlights would add $125 to $100 to the value.

I'm not trying to insult you....This is what I see Cub Cadets going for in my area. My IH Cub Cadet 100 that restored is worth more in parts than a complete tractor.

Post it up on Ebay. You may well get your asking price!

What's the serial number of the actual tractor

green407 12-30-2024 12:25 AM

Firstly, if you read through the thread you would have found the serial number is 11465

Secondly this is a dead thread, it's 8 years old.

It's a shame people don't come back and close threads after getting help or advice. One of the most valuable features of any forum is finding out how the situation played out.

That was a very nice Cub, but the original poster only lasted here 10 days before disappearing forever.

Yup, yet another "one and done"
