cleaned, primed and painted the fuel tank. Installed the tank supports. Hooked up a jump pack and "energized" the wiring harness. Starter relay is stuck or failed open. Jumped it and the engine turned over. No fuel system, so no start.

No IH dealer within 60 miles of where we live now, so I got some paint at a Tractor Supply store. Magic (or majic?) brand. Close color match but slow to dry and I don't care for the circular spay pattern.

One pic of the new positive battery cable (even though it's black--will add some red tape to it shortly) and the coiled up yellow cable for tail lights. Need to drill and tap a hole for a battery ground, (or make another cable to run forward to the starter ground, which, actually is better). I have the cable and terminals...)

OK, a couple pics...

Looks good!:beerchug:

That Majic paint leaves a lot to be desired... I try not to use it but I understand if you are in a pinch and that's all you can find!:biggrin2:

I have been ordering the yellow and white Valspar in 6 can boxes from Amazon. It's awesome.. sprays nice and dries fast.. but every now and then I run out and have to buy what I can find!:biggrin2:

I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff as the case IH irongard.

Your getting closer! I sit here anxiously awaiting the first test drive!

Thanks for the lead. I checked Amazon and they estimate delivery Jan 22 to Feb 19. What's up with that?

So I ordered some real IH paint from ccspecialties.org. So far, I've only used the Majic paint on the fuel tank. Gonna stop there...

I used to live about 10 miles from a big Case/IH dealer 15 miles north of Richmond. That's actually where I bought my first Cub, a used 108, 38 years ago. (still have and use the 108).

It was so convenient to run over there and get stuff, but they were bought by Hoober, a mid-atlantic/northeast tractor dealer chain. They dropped the Cub Cadet line.

I've since retired and moved 100 miles east (from the Richmond, VA rural suburbs) to the Chesapeake Bay area. Not really sure exactly where the nearest Cub Cadet dealer is now, but I think it's about 50 miles south of me, down toward Yorktown. Will have to call them and see what they carry.

Meanwhile, paint is on the way.

I'm still unsure how I'm going to mount a seat for that test drive...might be pretty comical!

I will post a link to a video. With Christmas and family in town, not sure when the maiden voyage will occur.

You'll be happy with the Cub/IH paint. Pricey, but a good choice.
That Majick shit will be wet a week from now. Garbage...

If Hoober is a Case/IH dealer they will have the paint or can get it, HyTran also.
Should not be an issue.
I buy Rustoleum Transport Yellow by the case in spray cans, very convenient for small parts and Home Depot will deliver in a couple days. About $3.75/can

And it's only $450

Earlier today, I put a battery on this beast. Something I didn't think through fully. The starter has to turn the motor and TWO hydros. The jump pack I tried didn't have the umph to get it done. This might need a clutch/hydro disconnect set up.

Still working on it, will have to disconnect the hydros to get this engine started. It has never run since it's a new rebuild and it's a little stiff.

I didn't even think of that. :RedFace2:

That's what I would do. Just put a clutch on it.
