Got the snow bucket we built for the loader back from the painter today and
added a custom decal.

Painted white / yellow cartoon eyes on the grille panel - one eye on each side. All the black in the attached pic I did in yellow. (When I had the tractor all apart and decided to repaint, I noticed the usual horizontal lines on the grille looked like crap, so decided to just paint the thing white (I know...such sacrilege)....THEN realized that it looked too blah...so thought eyes would be cool. Also put a second coat of white paint on the hood.

You know we need a picture of the tractor and grill. Thanks. Love creativity.

I know. Pics forthcoming. Right now everything is still drying (very humid here yesterday so it takes rather long), and then have to put the grill / hood back on.

Got a new hold-down spring in the mail yesterday so will add that. Right now the one side is held on with wire. Sad how I've had this tractor for 48 years and never once checked (more like cleaned) that front grill. It was packed solid with debris. NOW I know why, over recent years, guys here used to tell me - why not just work at the front of the engine by removing the grille rather than taking off the hood (as I've always done).......Grille, you say? What grille?? lol.......

Well.. what started out as a fairly straightforward narrow frame driveshaft/clutch rebuild has turned into a full on K301 rebuild. This was my grandfathers 126 which he bought new and was given to me after his death about 20 years ago. It’s done a few odd jobs through the years for me but hasn’t worked nearly as hard as he worked it in his 3 acre garden plot. After visiting the Denton farm park last week in Denton, North Carolina, the bug has bitten me and it’s time to get this classic cub back in shape. I’ve been a member of this forum for nine years or so and have been reading and lurking all this time. As I really get into this project I’m sure I’ll have questions so.. I say thanks in advance and I appreciate all the time and effort all of you have spent building this wealth of information at my fingertips.

tried to edit the original post but didn't have the ability to attach a few pictures. LOTS of carbon on both the head and the cylinder/piston tops. Piston doesn't feel sloppy at all, though I should probably go ahead and have it rebored and stick a new rod/piston combo in there and have the crank reground while I'm at it? The front PTO definitely needs to be rebuilt as it wore completely through the carbon button and has ground the hole open on that shaft. Thought I was getting out for the cost of a clutch rebuild.. now I'm in for considerably more. Which is fine.. just trying to justify the cost to my better half. :BB&YS:

Well looks like you opened up a whole new can of worms. It'll be fun and worth it after it's all said and done with plus you'll have a tractor that'll last the rest of your life and then some.:ThumbsUp: I'm looking at some new rear tires,are those Deestones on there?

The pictures all look very familiar, having just put a new engine in my 129 (after the rod broke in the original after 47 years of use), besides having the tractor separated and hydro pump off to replace the cork gasket, then clean everything up, lots of new parts, then some sanding and painting, etc. Wishing you the best of luck with the project....
