This is my recently completed winter project. I bought a 1806 in October with a tired clutch and swapped in the hyrdo from my 1210 that had a tired engine to make a 1810. Went over the M18 top end - new rings, honed cylinders, lapped valves, flattened heads, new gaskets, added an electronic fuel shut off valve. Lots of clean up and a rattle can paint job and she is back in service this spring.

Out with the old in with the new.

New to the site. I inherited my 1512D from my grandpa about 5 years ago. He bought it new in 89. He paid $4,457. I have the sales receipt! I also have a few sales brochures, the owners manual, mower deck manual, and Kubota service manual. He also bought the 44" deck, a blade and wheel weights. I remember riding on it with him when I was kid thinking how cool it was (and wondering why the exhaust stuck out the side). It's been very well cared for. Only things that have been touched are one of the hydraulic relief valves, water pump and the bearings on the mule drive. Other than that it is all original! Anyway, happy to have found the site and looking forward to learning some more things on these awesome machines.

My 1992 1440. I maintain it as my Snowblower only Cub. This Cub has treated me very well, and I enjoy clearing deep snow with it. I have a 250' Driveway, plus an upper area near my garage (shown in pics) that it makes quick work of.
I also have a 2014 GTX 2100 that's used in the summer to mow approx. 1.5 acres of grass.
It's great to be here on this site, I really appreciate all the people, and their helpful knowledge on Cubs.

1811 and sold my 1864
 

Have had the 1811 since new in 89 770 hours now - then the 1864 I picked up last year and refurbished a bit - sandblasted and epoxy primed/painted deck.

Was out mulching down leaves and neighbor came over and asked - do you know anyone that has a riding mower for sale? Indeed I do!

So the 1864 went next door so I will still see it working!

BOTH are sweet machines, but I would have kept the 1811 too. I mean how many original owners are out there still with their vintage Cubs?

Exactly. I used to work as a mechanic at an IH dealership in the 70's on the older cub series and full sized tractors 584/986 etc. so I know them well.

Wanted to keep the 1864 with 200 hours and sell the 1811 but felt my neighbor would be better off with the newer machine - he's not mechanically inclined and he knows he has a "local mechanic" .

Was it an automotive disk type or belts and pulleys or What?
