When CCC went to the Aluminum Rear End (at S/N: 720,000>), that is when this PTO became obsolete.

The rear PTO option (433 rear pto kit) was available when the IH built 982 came out in 1979 and was available up to the end of the cyclops run in 1997. As far as I know, the only difference is the rear cover plate to that kit.

Yes, both the IN & CCC SGT's had available a Rear PTO. However, the versions were different between IH & CCC. The IH version bolted to the rear plate of the Cast Iron rear end. The 190-433-100 Rear PTO was a kit available for tractors with s/n greater than 720,000 (aluminum rear end).

The clutch on both versions bolt to the top bearing bracket. The only different part is the rear cover plate as far as I know.

Simple mater to pull up both versions in the parts lookup and compare part numbers.

I do know, on the rear PTO on the 2072 I have, the casting number on the gear housing is an IH number and that unit is now on my 2086.

I can produce the cover plate for either version.

Hello again everyone!

The 982 has been bravely handling snow duties these past two years. A snowstorm dropped 4 ft of snow on us and she's been a champ, but then I messed up right at the end of the storm: I tried to fire up the blower while the impeller was frozen and wouldn't turn, and in the 10 seconds or so for me to realize what was happening I burned up my front PTO clutch.

Good news: I got a replacement assembly coming.

Bad news: I also need a new bearing for the armature (The bearing that gets pressed into Part #3 on this diagram: https://www.partstree.com/models/982...pto-clutch-41/ ), but none of the parts diagrams list a replacement bearing for it. Does anyone have a part number or ID/OD specs for a replacement bearing to press into the armature? This is for the front PTO.

It looks like an extremely straight forward replacement job from reading the manual. Are there any gotchas or things to look out for in the process?

This guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_4FSI_DVHU is working on one that looks identical to mine but is on an 1882 and M18 Kohler. IS this the same as the Onan?

Thanks!

IIRR those front pto bearings are a regular 6206 2RS ( sealed both sides)
Hell Tractor supply has them,---- and about $7 on ebay.
Nothing special. :beerchug:
