I actually did see a compression spring used - I might have pictures of that set up some place. Yeah I found it - it's from a member of the IH Cub Cadet forum - a Jerry Ide, I believe.

But, I looking for an extension spring though. I don't have the room to cobble up one like Jerry's compression spring set up.

Try a scrap yard. Or what about any of the springs from a cheep Sears mower, Mtd, ect. On my White, there are springs under there.

I looked at some deck springs - most of them are too weak. BTW, here's the thread for my helper spring thingy:

Well, I was so anxious to try out the hitch that I couldn't wait for the top coat of paint - so here's some pictures of it in primer gray. Sorry for the fuzzy pictures, but it's been so humid here that the camera lens got a little foggy.

how does that box blade do on the back of your cub? is good enough to scrape a driveway. i know that is what it was made for, i didnt know if it was well built to last for years. great pics, i had the same problem when i finally got the hitch on my original. i was like a kid in a candy store. sorry for jumping off subject

I haven't really used this blade too much yet - it's an Agri-fab. I just got it a couple of days ago - it looks like it never seen the ground yet. It looks like someone bought it and then left it outside to get some surface rust on it, but never used it. Only time will tell how durable it will be, but I think it could have been sturdier.

Well, no pictures today, even "still" shots. But yesterday I pull the hitch off and painted it. Also someone told me that whoever assembled the box blade, put the hitch frame on upside down. So I corrected that and it does make a difference.

That is what was wrong with it! It looked odd when you had it attached to the back of the tractor - it looked like it was at a weird angle. Now it all makes sense. I bet it would change the way it works for sure! Can't wait for some action shots as well as to see that hitch all painted up.
