I have a Lincoln 225AC buzz-box that was given to me by my grandfather... first welder I ever owned, and the welder I first started learning on... but I haven't used it in years... but here's what I got in the shop right now:

Hobart Handler 80 (aka the 'original Handler'), fitted with gasless wire, and use it only to tack things together in-situ, or in remote circumstances.

Miller Goldstar 16hp Tecumseh engine driven, on trailer with engine-driven air-compressor... easy to tow around the farm to provide power, welding, and air-pressure...

Miller SRH-333 DC stick/tig supply in the main workshop. This was FORMERLY a three-phase machine, now converted to single-phase. Purchased for $60, parts to convert added $25, took two hours to convert.

Miller CP-200 MIG welding supply with 10A wirefeeder running 0.035" ER-70S wire and 75/25 mix. This was FORMERLY a three-phase machine, now converted to single phase. Purchased on auction for $150, took $18 in parts, and two-and-a-half hours to convert.

OLD Airco (made by Miller) Heliarc 330ABP HF TIG supply, with a similar-aged cooler (labeled Union Carbide... perhaps a LINDE...), a 23A footpedal, and a Weldcraft torch.

In the barn, awaiting conversion... an AIRCO CV-300 II, and an AIRCO CV-300 III, and a Miller CP-300. Not because I have any particular need, but because I can... and I'll document it...

you have peaked my interest! you must make a thread showing your machines. i absolutely love those old Giant 3 phase machines that were so ungodly awkward to move around the shop. my Hobart is like that. almost takes up a whole corner of my garage. but i love it. makes the meter turn like crazy though.

those old Airco machines are awesome!

Well...

The CP-200 isn't by any means 'huge'... it's actually about the same size as a Millermatic 250... or a suitcase welder sitting on a rolling stand...

It just has a whole lot bigger BALLS. 200A at 100% duty cycle. Look at ANY other welder (even a MillerMatic, or AutoSet 250...) and you simply will NOT find that kind of Cajones. Not only can it run 200A at 100%, if you have the capacity to stay in the kitchen, it will burn a hole through a 1/2" plate, just by dialing up the voltage and wire speed into the 'silly' range. It WILL bounce WELL over the 300A mark with no complaints.

Did I mention they're DIRT CHEAP? Yeah. Watch for 'em... under $200... at business auctions... most people won't bid on 'em, 'cause they're THREE PHASE... get the 460/230 machine.

i think allot of people like to stay clear of those old machines from fab shops because they think that they are whipped. ive seen allot of machines that are close to brand new working condition that have sat in the corner of the shop or even outside for YEARS. dust them off, plug in and play.

i recently bought an old Ltec 225. same as the Esab migmaster and i absolutely love it. still have some kinks to work out in it but wow does it lay a great bead. i can even do spray transfer with it too.

I just bought a Hobart Handler 140. My first gas welder. I like it. Just started using it, makes nice clean weld beads. Since it's 110v it's easy to move around and use anywhere--my old Craftsman 240A stick welder needs a 50A plug...

Hobart 187, very proud of this machine. Does everything and more for me for my fabrication needs around the shop. Got C-25 gas and running .035 wire.

just got a Lincoln PM 216. so far im not to impressed. took me about an hour of playing around to get a decent weld. then i pulled out my little PM 135 on gas-less wire just to make sure i wasn't crazy. it put down a perfect weld first shot. hopefully ill just have to play with the 216 more.

How much pressure are you running on the gas? You are using 75%-25% right?

the tank i had was a real small one i got years ago for my 135. it is 75-25. i had it at 30 then cranked it up to 60 just a few hours ago and tried it again. i keep playing and it seems to be getting better. then a ran out of gas. im going to get a big tank and keep playing.
