Dropped the mowing deck and mounted up the new to me QA42A. Don’t have chains or added weight, so will be interesting to see how it does on my relatively flat driveway.

149 Snow Tractor
 

My 149 snow tractor has been in my building out back all summer with a mowing deck installed. Let it sit too long and it would not start. No heat in building and no electric. Have tried several warm days to get it to start. No Luck. Yesterday went down to building,(temp in low 60's)and took point cover off and inspected points. Point on the pivoting arm had a nipple sticking out on it. Took some 220 sand paper and removed the nipple. Battery was fully charged and used a fully charged battery with jumper cables. Back fired a couple times through the muffler but it started. The smoke rolled out for a short time and then cleared up. Moved tractor to middle of building and dropped the mowing deck, then remover the mule drive. Started on attaching the snow blower. Two hours later with me huffing and puffing, the blower was finally on the tractor. I will never take that blower off this tractor again. Seems I said the same thing last year. Drove it up to my garage and swapped places with another 149 tractor that went to the building out back. Was too tired to put the belt on and hook up the chute bar. Took a picture this morning. Hope it does not snow before I finish the job. Sorry I wrote so much. I get carried away talking about cub cadets. Have a great day.

Hauled 2 bags of chicken feed up around the back and through the gate, only to find that if I park in the right spot, my cub's hood is the perfect height for mixing feed in my can. It's not much, but it was her first job with me, and she did great!!

Did some TLC to my 108 today, as Ya'll can see she was in need of a head gasket.Attachment 97583
Cleaned everything up and surfaced the head.

Also lapped valves and worked on valve cover breather.
New head gasket and she should be good to go. :beerchug:

This morning I hitched up the wagon, shoveled it full of chicken poop, and my left front tire went flat. :( I finished the job up and gave her what hot rodders call a "Comet wash" before I put her away wet. Pics after wax, wax another day.

Yesterday I welded up the Quietline cradle mod cross bar and painted it this morning. While the motor is out, I am going after a couple things that need attention . The steering box has just a little slop in it so I pulled that out , hope to get that apart tomorrow, then went in to fix the slop in the hyd. control linkage. O boy, here we go. The arm that comes off the lever shaft has been molested by a PO. Looks like it should have a role pin through it but has been replaced by a motorcycle chain connector link that has wallered out the hole.
Couldn't get it out because couldn't get a solid enough hit with a punch against it without it bending the shaft at the waller hole. [the chain link, i'm talking about]. Ended up sawing the shaft in two to get it out. In the vice I was able to get the link out ok, Tomorrow I will weld the shaft back together and weld and redrill the waller hole. That's all for now.

Yesterday I bought another one. A good running 149 and what I believe to be a No 1 Tiller. My girlfriend hinted toward an intervention, and I think she might be right, as this brings me up to a total of 8 tractors spread across our vast 1/2 acre urban farm. Sadly, she was quick to point out that none of these 8 tractors (and several push mowers, blower, tiller, and weed eaters) are actually capable of cutting grass. Guess that means the green one goes first, right??

But my 123 runs great now.

Loaded a crated Chrysler transmission w/the 149 onto my truck for shipment to a fellow in WA via Fastenal.
Yup, this thing is really gonna come in handy around here!!

Got the new tie rod ends on, and took her out for a spin in the sun!
