Beautiful tractor...what size are those rear tires? I have a 149 bought, got to pickup this week or first of next, and I know it has pretty worn out weeny skin tires on it. I like the looks of those. Did you have to buy a different wheel to accomodate them?
Thanks

Thanks, the tires are an off brand,23X8.50-12 Deestone 4P Super Lug Tires, but they seem to be very good tires so far.I did not need different rims, however the 149 may have a wider rim on it.If you have the right size rim, they are only $93(a set)on ebay, minus shipping,i hope this will help you out.

:Welcome2: to both Cub123 and Dave R!!!!

Great working 123 there cub123!!! You'll really appreciate that hydraulic lift when you get it on your 123.......I've had mine on for about 1 year and can honestly say that it makes lifting a 185 lbs. snow blower a cinch. The directions for modifying the clutch sheild call for splitting it down the middle, but I wouldn't advise it. Someone showed me their mod on their 100 where they had notched out theirs to accommodate their belt, so I gave it a try with a pair of tin snips and am really glad that I didn't cut it in half.....just a quick tip for what it's worth. Can't wait to see your pictures once you get it mounted.

Im going to have some better pics soon, and i also have a 106(which i plan to put the spring assist from the 123 on)Love the site,it has been very helpful so far,and there are so many good looking Cubs on here!

---->Does the lift rod for your blade go under your original or on the side, I can't tell by the picture?

As for the negative temps, Young Enthusiast........I can do without them, I don't mind the 20's, but several times last year my region got colder than Alaska was, isn't that strange?:bigthink: Never thought about going to a warmer climate, like Alaska for the winter!! Can't wait to see your pictures...

Cub Cadet 123

It has the rod on the outside w/brkt on the lift handle. All fabricated hanger, narrow frame A frame and blade. Wish I had a OEM on it. The original rod is still hooked to the rock shaft under the frame but I plan to remove.

i dont have any pictures yet, but i got the plow on the 1450 and it was doing really good pushin these indiana snows around till my throttle cable broke, that being on order i have a little time and was wondering if anyone has any good ideas as to how to get the height of the blade any higher off the ground while i am not pushin, with my gravel drive it seems to still push and catch even while it is all the way up :bigthink:

Cub Cadet 123 12-29-2010 08:41 PM

Flatbedford,

I'll bet you're not waiting anymore!!! Wow...New York has been buried in snow and no doubt you're having fun in it. Great looking 125. I almost bought one this fall, but hesitated. Another hydro would have been great to have around.

motochris35---:Welcome2:How high is your gravel? My blade comes up off of the ground about 4" above the ground when the handle is all the way back. Your tires would have to be buried in gravel for it to scrape.

Cub Cadet 123

Flatbedford 12-29-2010 09:31 PM

I didn't have to wait long. I took that picture at about 1 in the afternoon. I plowed at about 4, again at 7, 11, and 5 am! We ended up with about 18" at my place. I don't have any pictures, but I was very impressed with how much snow the tractor could move. I easily pushed the windrow from the town plow. I bought the tractor this spring mostly as a snow machine and I am very happy that I did!

motochris35 12-31-2010 11:51 AM

i havent measured the height but im sure its not 4", is there some type of adjustment that i could have not adjusted correctly?

My 126 sporting new weight hangers and lights, waiting to go out and play... I have a steep inclined driveway about 100 ft long and without the weights, can barely get back up the driveway in the snow! Got 200 lbs on there, can't wait to try it out.

Matt G. 12-31-2010 02:52 PM

Please tell me those weights are connected to something more than the back of the tiller gearbox bracket. More support is needed so you don't bend/break something; or better yet, the weight should be on the wheels.

leeall 12-31-2010 03:36 PM

2 Attachment(s)
No, the weights are hanging off the 3pt hitch, see pics.
I agree would be better on the wheels, might try to fab something to use for wheel weights next year so as to be able to use with the tiller too.

Matt G. 12-31-2010 03:46 PM

:beerchug: Looks good from here! Thanks for the extra pics. Those weights might fit on the wheels...a few members have come up with ways of attaching them. A search for 'wheel weights' here might turn up something useful.

You don't need/want any extra weight for the tiller, BTW.

Cub Cadet 123 12-31-2010 04:15 PM

The 126 will be fun in the snow. A good set of chains on those tires would help a great deal!!! Those weights might not even be necessary if you had some chains on those tires.

Nice 126 and weights. Have fun in the snow! :beerchug:

snowthrower belt

so I'm dying to try my 109 and 42a snowthrower. Got the heavy metal mounted but for the life of me, I can't get the belt on. I have the correct belt and a spare, read the manual but nothing in there other than turning the big wing clockwise to raise the pulley for mounting the belt. But i have the wing turned all the way in and still can't get the belt on. Is there a trick to this? it was on there when i got the tractor and the guy i got it from took it off in a snap so we could load the rig in my truck.

Cub Cadet 123 01-02-2011 08:02 PM

Superglyde,

:Welcome2::WWP::WWP:

I haven't mounted a snowthrower in a couple of years, I just left mine on one of my cubs and retired it to tossin' snow. You might try turning the wing back all of the way or even partial until you can get the belt on. It's been too long and I forget which way, but I know it was a cinch once I turned it one way....loaded the belt and then tightened it the other way. Give it a try!!

Cub Cadet 123

Mooner 01-02-2011 08:13 PM

Turning the wing clockwise tightens the belt, so that means you'd need to turn it counterclockwise when installing the belt. Keep us posted.

Cub Cadet 123 01-02-2011 11:49 PM

Allen,

I just noticed that white stuff around your 100, didn't think you got much of that in NC. Now that 100 needs a blade or blower to get some work time in!!

Soft cab on my 123!!

3 Attachment(s)
Finally got the soft cab mounted on my 123. Now, both the 149 and 123 have similar soft cabs and it really helps break the wind!!! Just need more snow to put them to more use.

ACecil 01-09-2011 11:07 PM

Great looking 123 and cab, Cub Cadet 123!

We usually don't get much snow. They are calling for 1 to 3" tomorrow, along with some ice.

Cub Cadet 123 01-10-2011 08:00 PM

Thanks Allen....hope you can grab some seat time in the snow & maybe the ice will bypass your area. YIKES--in '05 I was without power for 2 1/2 wks because of an ice storm. Definitely don't want to do that again!! Your duels will grab well in the snow and the ice anyway. Sometime if you could send me a picture of your extensions from the engine to the stack, I would appreciate it. I'd like to put a stack on my 73 and was wondering on how far of an extension I needed to clear the hood but not too far to create unnecessary torque that might crack my block. Thanks....

Old Thread On Snow Ready Cubs!

I remembered an old thread that had some really awesome cub pictures in it ready for the snow and I thought some others might like to see these as well. I really like some of the blade mods made, notably the extra wide blade with the beastie duallies on pg. 2. Hope others enjoy looking at these.

I like that 4 wheel wagon. Tractors look ready.

Diz Jr. 12-11-2011 10:20 AM

Thanks ACecil
Do you have the blade on one of yours yet? If it snows like it has the last few years, you will be pushing before i am :biggrin2:

Flatbedford
:Thanks: The wagon is real handy. I have used it several times since i got it this fall.

Cub Cadet 123 12-11-2011 11:23 AM

Diz,

I really like the modified skid plate on your blade. Did you fab that yourself? What gauge steel is it and is it easily adjustable? Also, the IH painted on your door looks awesome......certainly gave me some ideas! Thanks for the pics.

Cub Cadet 123

ACecil 12-11-2011 02:34 PM

Anytime Diz! Not yet, but it will be on, in a couple weeks. :beerchug:

Diz Jr. 12-11-2011 04:31 PM

Cub Cadet 123
I made the wide skid plate from 1/8" T-1 steel. It adjusts with a nut top and bottom so you can get it where you want. I was tired of digging into the gravel on my driveway. It works great.
The 169 has no skids at all, i use it to do the paved drives in the neighborhood.
