The unions hit IH harder than they did Cat or because up into the '60s IH was a much bigger company and so the unions used IH to make an example.

IH leadership knew that they had an outdated product line in the early '70s but the farm economy was good and they were selling tractors as fast as they could build them so they didn't care, as soon as the farm economy turned south and it went from a sellers market to a buyers market they were in too deep of a hole to dig out of.
