Louden ?
Louden, Summit Point, Lime Rock? Cant' be Bridgehampton. RD 400? Raced RDs in the 70's & 80's. "Look at where you want to go, look as far ahead as you can."

I'm thinking Summit or Pocono. Don't think they run bikes at Slime Rock and I don't recall guard rail at Louden.
I do miss "The Bridge" one of the best track I ever got to drive. |
Those photos are actually from a couple different years at what was BeaveRun and now is Pittsburgh International raceway. I have been to Summit Point a couple times and Nelson Ledges as well. Should make Loudoun at some point with the USCRA since I have a brother that lives about 20 minutes from the track.
This bike is a fairly heavily modified 1979 Yamaha RD400F or Daytona Special as they were more commonly known. More to come, but I will pace myself since it is going to be a long winter! |

Jeff, have to get them out of the basement :) Kawasaki triples are one group I have missed out on. Relatively speaking they were popular and $$$ 10 years ago when people were still giving RD's and CB Honda's away. Did miss out on what turned out to be a good deal on a 350 triple from a co-worker, I figured the way he talked about people low balling him on it that he wanted to much for it so I never seriously asked. Then found out he sold it for $400... low mile, original owner bike in very good condition... go figure. The people he mentioned must have been really low balling him since he was quite happy to get $400. Was a few years ago but it was easily worth $1200 at the time.
Speaking of that I just saw a 72 Honda CB350 twin, non-running, no title although fairly complete listed on CL for $2000 firm. I would like to think it is priced about $1700 to high but with the current craze for these things I am probably the one that is nuts! |

There are still deals to be had but you have to be quick. |
Mmmm, "The Bridge"! My favorite as well! Very sad day when they buldozed the Bridge, and the "old Louden". Still have dreams about them both. A friend who raced cars there gave me a piece of turn 2 he salvaged. That little sink hole on the inside of the last turn coming onto the main straight bit me---twice !! Billy Payne,Mike Schlacter,Mike Baldwin, Miles Baldwin, Kurt Lentz, Joe Racer, etc, and Kevin Cameron moderating the "riders meetings". Mmmmm.

Probably should have posted this bike 1st but didn't have any pictures really handy the other day. These photos are from around 2000 when this 1997 VFR was about 1 year old since I bought it as a leftover in 99. Being 15, going on 16 years ago is my excuse for the poor quality photos :BlahBlah:
These pictures were from the first major service, the internal shot of course being where you check the valves. Funny enough, I still have this bike and with 80,000 miles the valves have always been in spec. |

That is just plain sad to see. I need to get back to this racing thing as there are several tracks I would like to ride and you never know when they will just up and disappear.
