Now that my internship is no longer a 5 day work week since i have returned for school. I had some time to work on the 1850.

I don't recall where I read it, it has to have been 15 or 20 years ago. I do remember it showed a QL with an 1850 heading. that's all I really remember about it. the K361 was not built for a very long time. it had allot of problems dropping valve seats. usually the exhaust and they shook allot . some of you guys think your other K series models shook. it had nothing on the K361. I believe Kohler probably talked IH out of it since it would have to engineer a new block to fit a cub and talked them into the new KT17 as a better engine.no real vibration. We all know where that went.

Yes it does shake quite a bit. I tested it on the bench (floor rather) and she shook rattled and rolled when I started her. Wasn't running right so I didn't run it long. I believe it to be that i just slapped a carb i had on the shelf on it, set it to the factory settings and went with it. No points clean, new plug or anything. Just how I got it out of the shipping crate. Did not even have a gas tank. just a short length of hose and a funnel. I installed Kirk's engine balance kit in an attempt to calm it down a bit. After the rebuild I have the proper #30 carter that has the 1.2" throttle bore only found on the k361s. Going to send it out to Jake at American Legends for a throttle bushing kit (If i can find his phone #). The original carb was set up to run propane by epoxying the idle jet into the carb. Was not to pleased to see that. I did a google search on a cub cadet experimental machine and all it really came up with was the cubette or the Os with serials 409-411. Perhaps with more digging I can find something.

the 361 used a 1.250 bore and it had a 1.062 venturi

Eh i was close. Not bad for just recalling the #s from a year ago. Thanks for the actual #s tho
