Glad you got the Scrapper out of the shop:beerchug:
149 is coming right along. Don't know (remember) if you mentioned how the trunnion is. Most likely something else you need to add to the list. |
Brakes turned out good Sam!:beerchug:

Got the trany lever fixed today. See post # 7 http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=31729
Pulled the rear cover off all good inside, I'm a happy camper. New axle seals on order. Best part was that the new wiring harness from Mike Lamar showed up today. Hope to have the old girl running next week. :beerchug: |
That 149 is going to be sweet when you are done with it Sam!
|
Great news, Sam!
|
Doesn't look too bad in there. You pullin the tubes and drilling the case like usual? Or not going to the trouble? :bigthink:
|

I'm not pulling the tubes and drilling the case on this one. I'll use my suction gun to get the water out of it. I can do that through the ends of the axle tubes. I figure it's lived for 32 years the way it is. :beerchug: |

Cleaned out the rear, drilled and tapped the broken mount bolt, looks like the PO had a 7/16" bolt in it so I just drilled and tapped it for 3/8" like it should be anyway, came out nice. Took the new wiring harness out so you guys can se what Mlamar makes, nice and everything is tagged so you know what goes where. Axle seals should be here next week so hope to get the old girl running soon. :beerchug:

Looking good Sam.:beer2:

Nice job, Sam!

Think I'm about done with my local Cub dealer. Ordered 2 axles seals early last week, today one shows up. Story is the guy that orders parts made a mistake and only ordered 1 so it will be another week and a half. I don't think so NAPA will have them for me tomorrow and for less $$. Done trying to help these guys. Got the rear end brace pretty well fabed up. Had to do a one off for this tractor because of the brake arms. Hope to make some progress soon. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow of the brace. :beerchug:

My local dealer is 35 miles away. I just order direct from CCC online. Gets here in about 5 days or less usually, and if you set up an account with CCC seems like they treat you pretty good. If you compare prices to partstree.com it's ALWAYS cheaper. :beerchug:
Hey, the guy who made that harness, Mlamar? Is he a member here? How do you contact him? :bigthink: |
Jon
Sent you a PM |

I bought a new Cub Cadet from a dealer, they were happy to take my money, we were best friends, but when it came to service after the sale, I got the impression I wasn't so welcome any more. My brother just bought a new CC lawn tractor from a box store - he has had similar experiences, so figured, what the heck, at least the box store will take return. Back on topic - sounds like you are coming along with your 149. I've got a 109 I need to bring home from camp duty. I've got a 14 hp engine to drop in place of the tired 10 hp engine (which I very much like) and an electric lift from a parts 1250 that I'm going to put on it. Ought to be very close to a 149 when and if I get finished. BTW - I can't remember, I know that tractor came with a 3 point hitch, but did it come with the Brinley sleeve hitch and a moldboard plow? It's a scream to plow with these garden tractors! Good luck, Bill |

Got the seals from NAPA. Put the axles back in. Finished up the rear end braces and installed them. Swapped the wiring harness. Put the fender pan back on. Fired it up. Had to adjust the throttle cable it wouldn’t come back to idle. Changed all the fluids and filters and installed the tiller gear box. Have to find out why it’s not charging. It wasn’t charging before the harness swap so I don’t think that the issue. Drive shaft works awesome, no vibration from it. :beerchug:

Looks good Sam. You do great work.
|
Looking almost done,
on the charging issue it is not charging because it doesn't have a credit card.... remove the sg belt, turn it over and ground the f term momentarily.it should slow it down if it is a working correctly. If good move to the vr and check the contacts for corrosion. |
Looking good Sam, good job on the brace, lol lew.:biggrin2:

Lew
I'll spend some time in the tech library and print out the how to test it. I'm not up to speed on the old style SG setup. So far I have not let the smoke out of the wires. LOL. |
The cd I sent you has a manual for the Delco sg and the vr testing, repair.

Great job, Sam!

Tested the SG and found out that it is just fine. It pegs the amp meter when you ground out the field terminal. New VR on order from O'Reilly's should be here tomorrow. Got the tiller hung on the back. Had to make up a set of lift chains. Now onto the mule drive. Looks like when it's all done it may actually work. :biggrin2:
|
Glad to hear it, Sam. :beerchug:

It works like a real one!. So far all good, rebuilt PTO seems like it's the way it should be. Tiller goes up and down and it tills dirt. No bad sounds so I guess it will live at least for a while. Now I need to find a replacement for the tines. A few more things to finish and this project will be done. Then onto the sickle mower.
|
Don't forget about that scratch on the hood! Man, that's a pretty impressive list of issues. I've done the same thing in the past, its tough to let go of the stuff you love. TB
|
Nice job on the repairs and mods Sam. And good info guys on OE parts since I need all seals and gaskets for my 800 transmission. Guess CCC sounds like it's going to be the choice
|
Project 149 is coming along well Sam, you'll be flipping dirt in no time:beerchug:
|
Great work on the repairs as always Sam.:beerchug:

The 149 is looking good by the way, I need to get to work on mine:bash2:I |
I have one on the way for $28.00 from Amazon. Cleaned to contacts on the old one and it's working at least for the moment but it's crusty.
|
The brown truck showed up with the genuine made in India VR. We'll see how long it works, at least it was cheap. Hope to get it installed tomorrow. :beerchug:
|
Cross your fingers Sam!
