Thanks Allen. I'm going to try to get some more red painted tomorrow.
|
OMG I LOVE IT. That is sooo cool.
|
very nice job, I can appreciate the effort since I'm on the same road now. Are you going to apply decals, and which do you plan to use?

That looks great!:beerchug:

Since this now has a K301 12hp in it, I'm putting 129 decals on it. I got them from Maple Hunter. I'll cut the "Cub Cadet" and place it on the white stripe on the sides of the hood like the "International" decal is on the fullsize 66 series tractors. The "129" will be on the side of the grill casting towards the bottom. All of the other decals will be in their original places. I want to get a couple of "Hydro" decals made to go on the red on the sides of the hood. |

Masked off the white on the hood, grill, & dash and finished spraying the rest of the red.

The red paint is looking good!

Thanks Allen. I made a bracket to mount a rear light under the fenders using existing holes to mount it.

I found some marker lights to use as tail lights. I know they're not the same as the original lights but they were long gone when I got the tractor. The fenders have been repainted since theses pics were taken because the paint was thin in places and had bad orange peel.

looking awesome, great job. I also used the majic paint from TSC and at first I thought it was almost pinkish but now after it has been on the tractor it looks great

Allen's not crazy, I can't see the pics either....

Pictures should show now.
|
I can see them now. Nice work, Adam!

Set the freshly painted parts in the sun today to help the paint cure. I mixed a little extra hardener in this paint and it seams to be curing faster. I noticed a spot on the hood where the paint is a little thin so I need to touch it up. Of course I didn't notice it until I had unmasked it.
http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps97a93b3b.jpg I got the VR mounted and finished wiring it and the tail lights and rear work light. Hooked up the battery and the lights work as well as the starter turns over. Need to get a SG belt and coil to see if it will run. Had to steal the coil off of it earlier this week when the coil went bad on the 100 mowing grass. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...psfb19f5b9.jpg |
Top notch work, Adam! Enjoying your pics!

Set the hood, dash, and grill on today cause I couldn't wait to see how it looks. Also masked of the dash tin to repaint the black.

That is sharp, Adam!

I'm VERY curious about that since NOS tins are insanely expensive, and at the moment I would need 4 (just about $800 worth) if I went hog wild on all the tractors. Your other work is looking great and I completely dig the hot rod theme of what you're doing. These things cost way too much to not make them our own!! :beerchug: |
I'm going to paint it gloss black and then remove the masking and spray on some clear coat to keep the bare aluminum outline from corroding. I hit it with fine steel wool before I masked it to shine up the outline. I will cut out the lettered sections from the dash decal and place them on the tin. That seems like the best way to get as close to the original look as possible.

The tractor is looking sweet Adam!:beerchug:

Got the dash tin painted. After I painted the black, I pulled off the masking and sprayed on some clear coat to keep the bare aluminum outline from corroding.
http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps3cde5382.jpg I also bolted on the rear light and wired it up. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6fa1ce1e.jpg |
That's very nice, Adam! Enjoying your pics.
|
Wow I think that just might look way better than off the show room!
|
wow, this is the first i have seen the plan and it is going to be awesome:beer2: i wish there was an IH, and i wish they still made cub cadet. thank goodness they where made as good as they are so that we can still work (play) with them today.
|
The dash is done. Had to space up the hydro linkage to keep the speed control lever from rubbing the dash tin.
http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps976e0b17.jpg Trimmed the decals for the dash and grill. The angled sides will have a chrome outline just like the top and bottom sides. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps4546917b.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...psd7c47c83.jpg |
I've been watching this, but haven't made any comments. This is the type of restoration that I like to see!! I'm not not a purist. I'm all for customization. Especially when it's done to the quality that you are doing! AWESOME JOB!!

I also got the red on the hood repainted today to fix the spot where the paint was thin. |
The dash looks like a new one Adam!
Great job!:beerchug: |
nice job:beer2:

Outstanding job, Adam!
|
Thanks guys.
Got the hood and seat on today. I need to paint the silver trim piece on the headlight panel and paint the black outline part of the IH emblem white. Ordered a coil yesterday so hopefully next week I can mount the gas tank and take it for a drive. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0d2f3d83.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...psde046602.jpg http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps66e731b1.jpg |
OK.... I have to say, I've seen people paint the old yellow cubs red and it didn't do much for me.... but I am absolutely taken aback by this one. I'll say it again AWESOME JOB!!!
I think tri-ribs on the front are in order though.... :biggrin2: :beer2: :beerchug: |
