Tried using Dawn and I can't believe how much time I wasted before. I read about people using it before but was hesitant. Thanks for the info you were not kidding about no streaking and easy,easy!:beer2:

Here's a pic of my 76 Bonneville I bought new out of high school. Redid it in 2011.

Last Saturday was the Modern Classics motorcycle show at Martin Motosport in Boyertown Pa

Here's a video looking over the cycles from the second floor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dMXXEwut9Q

They also had master artist Makoto Endo painting an early Indian motorcycle on canvas.

Amazing work

That is a great looking Bonnie mortten! Here is my 67 Bonneville. It was bought new by my godfather and parked in the early 80's. I bought it from him 10 years ago and have restored it mechanically. I even sent the gauges back to smith's in England to get factory refurbished. It runs great, one day I will get around to the cosmetics.

Still has the 39 year old seat cover on it. Cylinders were still standard.

I likes bikes too!

Finally delved into the deeper depths of OCC and found this sticky. :beer2:

With too many hobbies and not enough sheds, this is one of my other time-vacuums. The black one is a VT1100C3 (Shadow AERO for those non-Hondites) and the red/black one is a VT750c2 (A.C.E. or American Classic Edition).

Found them both in the well-used lot at two different dealerships. My bro-in-law wanted to stop in to the local H-D dealership, "just to kick tires" and wound up owning the tires he kicked! I asked the salesman about the 1100 Honda and he said, "If they buy THAT bike, I'll make ya a DEAL on the Honda!" He did. It was sitting there, all neglected and was on life support (constant batter tender) and the 750, well, it was just ugly. :biggrin2:

With the help of various cleaning agents, and a tetanus shot, I finally got them to where they would reflect sunlight. I pulled a lot of the "cool to the last owner" stuff off of it and have been slowly making them my own. I like the classic look, so the 1100 is my touring bike, and the 750 is a blast around town. I'd love to have an old H-D, but the greenbacks, haven't come back yet. Plus, I like the Honda reliability.

The 750 is next in line to get a paint job. I swapped out the fenders for a more vintage look. the rear is a repro from a '40-'41 H-D and the front fender is an aftermarket version that blends the look of the old springer style front fender and the mounts for this bike. Hope to have it painted soon.

Here's the before pix.

Took the ZR1100 out of "mothballs" yesterday. It started right up and ran even better with fresh gas. :biggrin2:

Now if they'd only filled the :censored: potholes

Then don't even think about using Finland Rd in Milford Township. I really wonder where the tax money went as it's not used on road upkeep

Thought I would post up a couple pictures of the cb550 cafe bike I built and sold last summer.

Hated to let it go but had some things come up, was my first and only motorcycle. I'll build another cafe bike though. Something about a bare bones, 2 wheels a motor kind of look I love about them. I learned a lot from it.

Thanks guys.

The guy I sold it to has it for sale. It was his first bike too and realized he's more of a car guy..

I'm going to find me another project cb550 the end of this riding season

I like café racer and bobber, you did a great job Robert

C5rider 06-03-2015 10:32 PM

This is my latest. I've still got the 1100, but when I tool around town, this one is a little more light and nimble. It's a 1999 Honda Shadow ACE. I bought it pretty ragged out and decided that I wanted a more vintage-looking bike.

I see that its been quite a while since this thread was active so here is my attempt to revive it. Here is my Shadow Aero I got last January. I traded in my honda cx500 and suzuki gs450ga for it because I'm a bigger guy and long rides on a small bike aren't much fun. I miss the cx and gs for short distances but I like the aero much more for those long rides. I don't have the cx or the gs any more, but I took some pictures before I traded them off.

Yep, that's what fat old farts ride. I'm a Fat Old Fart. Thing has more crap to deal with than any vehicle I have ever owned. I'll be busy for a couple days reading the operators manual.

ol'George 12-07-2015 05:35 PM

Every spring I get on my '83 venture to see if I can ride another year, and every year it gets taller.:crap:
One of these years I'll have to convert it to a trike or get a side hack.
Been looking @ these can-am's as an alternative.
Old age isn't what is cracked up to be.

Well , I'm in the same situation. Dealing with the weight of a Harley Road Glide Ultra was just a bit much. It was fine once it was moving. Backing it out of a parking space or on a side hill just made the experience more than I wanted to deal with. It almost tipped over on me in my garage just turning it around one day and screwed up my back. That pretty much did it for me.

I'm not saying everyone should run out and get one of these things. Who knows I may have this one up for sale in a couple weeks. I'll keep you guys posted on my findings. At least for what I paid for it I don't think I will take a bath like I did on my two Harleys. For what it's worth my suggestion to you guys is Do Not Buy a New Harley! Buy used only. Ask Me How I Know. They claim to hold there value, yeah not so much especially the V-Rod series. Figure that one cost me about $3.50 per mile to own and operate.
