Thanks everyone, just waiting on a rainy day to get back to work on the 1650. Shouldn't be too much longer, just a little paint here and there and finishing connecting the engine.

Till I get my 107 running and new spindle bearings on the new cub it will cut all the grass. Once I get the 107 done I'll rotate between the Diesel and the 107.

I've been doin some more work on the 1650 in the last few days. There's good news and bad news. The good news is that I finally got the driveshaft and sleeve hitch (which we bought from fellow member richmondcadet) painted and installed which was a lot harder than it sounds. Also got the mule drive stripped. The bad news is that the rearend is leaking again(where the brake line inters the rearend.):bash2::bash2::bash2::bash2::bash2: :Mad1: :NailHead: We decided we are just going to swap axles with the parts 1200 cub since it has external brakes and then plug that dang hole. O well just means more work.

Matt G. 03-25-2012 06:19 PM

It'll take more work to plug that hole than to simply replace the 10c O-ring that is leaking that you should have replaced when you had it apart for painting.

We already did that when we drained the tranny.

Matt G. 03-25-2012 06:31 PM

Well, you must have cut it putting it in or something...it shouldn't be leaking. Was the piston and bore smooth?

I don't know. We are just going to change it to external so we don't have to worry about it anymore. Plus if we find one we can put individual brake pedals on it with external. I have a whole spring break to switch it over though so time is not an issue.

I talked to my dad and he said the piston and bore were completely smooth and he was certain that he didn't cut the line.

Matt G. 03-25-2012 08:59 PM

Did you paint over the breather?

TheIHMan 03-29-2012 08:27 PM

Got the oil rearend oil drained and the axles pulled out. Hopefully I can get the axles off the 1200 at the farm on saturday. Sorry no pics camera died :bash2::bash2:

ACecil 03-29-2012 10:38 PM

Thanks for the update, Adam!

TheIHMan 03-31-2012 09:08 PM

Got more work done on the cubs today. We went to the farm where I took the axles off a parts cub and then painted them, and also soaked the hydro lever on the 107.

ACecil 03-31-2012 10:26 PM

Thanks for the update, Adam!

cledford 04-08-2012 10:06 PM

Would you mind sharing what kind of paint you're using and how you're putting it on?

Thanks,

Calvin

TheIHMan 04-08-2012 11:47 PM

We were using Cub Cadet white from the dealer but it is the new color code which is a little greener than IH white. We are now using IH 935 white which is 22 bucks a quart cheaper. Yellow is 483B IH yellow, black is rustolem black. I'll get a pic of the gun I use and the IH 935 white on the tiller tomorrow.

We've been doing a lot of work on the 1650 lately. I've got the axles switched out, painted the tiller and dad has got most of the electrical done. Hopefully I can get it running today :beerchug:

TheSaturnV 04-09-2012 10:36 AM

Looks like real nice work Adam.

Thanks guys, got the tiller on today and worked on the electrical problems some more, here's whats happening, we put a new ignition switch on and hooked everything up. I turn the key... nothing, then I flip the PTO switch and the engine cranks over, flip it again and nothing, keep fliping it and it turns over about 30% of the time, the headlights work no matter what position the key is in. We jumped from the ignition switch to the solenoid on the right side of the tower and it cranks over, also there is no spark.

ACecil 04-09-2012 10:20 PM

The tiller looks good, Adam! You'll get it figured out. :beerchug:

Quick question is the fuel shutoff open when the button is pulled out or pushed in (on the 1650)

Out = On for my QLs'

TheIHMan 04-18-2012 08:34 PM

Thanks. We found the problem and once we get a new spark plug it should run!

TheIHMan 04-19-2012 07:42 PM

We got the new plug and switched the coil wires around and she runs!!! A few more little things here and there and it should be ready to go! The bad news is that the lower radiator hose on the diesel rubbed a hole in itself and dumped all the antifreeze while I was mowing. Luckily I stopped as soon as it happened.

Donovan M. 04-19-2012 08:00 PM

You got lucky there, im not all the oil some how drained out of the 124 and seized the engine, Darn it.:BangPC:

TheIHMan 04-25-2012 02:31 PM

Well, I'm still waiting on the belt for the tiller but I got it out today for a joy ride and some pics. Only thing left to do now is repaint the side shields.

Methos 04-29-2012 11:09 PM
